It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of MEMS Founder David Jones.
In 1980, David played a pivotal role in establishing the Little Rock Ambulance Authority, which would later grow into the public, non-profit organization we now know as MEMS. He invested both his time and personal resources to help the City of Little Rock conduct a study that shaped the future of emergency medical services. Dissatisfied with the providers that prioritized revenue over the well-being of patients and medics, David championed a model built on service to the community without a tax.
He was honored to serve as LRAA’s first Chairman and continued his service as a Tenured Joint Emergency Medical Services Commission member until his passing.
Because of David’s dedication, we are where we are today, advancing emergency medical care in Arkansas and beyond through education, service, and compassion. Because of David, we are Here for Life.
Even at 94, David faithfully attended board meetings with the same passion and commitment that first inspired him to advocate for better emergency medical care.
David’s legacy of service, vision, and unwavering commitment will continue to guide MEMS and be felt for generations to come.
