FLASHBACK FRIDAY
Eight years ago today, Metropolitan EMS Communications became the 249th Medical ACE-Accredited Center in the world and one of only a few in Arkansas. We’ve proudly maintained our accreditation ever since, continuing our commitment to excellence in emergency communications.

Our incoming fleet of trucks will display both our ACE and CAAS Accreditations, a visible reminder of our dedication to quality, safety, and service to our community, not only in the field but also on the phones and radios.

Way to go Medics Gerenski and Vanhook!!!

We are proud to announce a new record in our stroke care! Just one week after achieving a six-minute door-to-TNK administration time, our team has now set an even more remarkable record of four minutes from arrival to TNK administration for an acute stroke patient.

This achievement reflects outstanding collaboration between MEMS for early pre-hospital notification, Pharmacy, the Emergency Department staff, and Dr. Keller (Neurology). Their seamless coordination demonstrates the power of teamwork and our unwavering commitment to providing the fastest, safest, and highest-quality care to our community when every second counts.

We’re super proud of Ken, our Fleet Manager at Metropolitan EMS! 🚑 While camping at Petit Jean, the paramedic in him came out and he didn’t hesitate to jump into action. Ken was one of four people recently honored for helping save a life, and we couldn’t be prouder!

Way to go, Ken!

Way to go Medics Dunlap and Millican!!

We are proud to announce a new record of just 6 minutes from door to TNK administration for an acute stroke patient. This incredible achievement was made possible through the seamless collaboration of our Emergency Department team, Dr. Keller (neurologist), Pharmacy, MEMS pre-hospital providers for their early notification, and Radiology staff for their prompt imaging. Every second counts in stroke care, and this milestone shows the power of teamwork and our shared commitment to providing the fastest, safest, and highest quality care to our community.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of MEMS Founder David Jones.

In 1980, David played a pivotal role in establishing the Little Rock Ambulance Authority, which would later grow into the public, non-profit organization we now know as MEMS. He invested both his time and personal resources to help the City of Little Rock conduct a study that shaped the future of emergency medical services. Dissatisfied with the providers that prioritized revenue over the well-being of patients and medics, David championed a model built on service to the community without a tax.

He was honored to serve as LRAA’s first Chairman and continued his service as a Tenured Joint Emergency Medical Services Commission member until his passing.

Because of David’s dedication, we are where we are today, advancing emergency medical care in Arkansas and beyond through education, service, and compassion. Because of David, we are Here for Life.

Even at 94, David faithfully attended board meetings with the same passion and commitment that first inspired him to advocate for better emergency medical care.

David’s legacy of service, vision, and unwavering commitment will continue to guide MEMS and be felt for generations to come.
