Keep Arkansas Beautiful

Keep Arkansas Beautiful We inspire Arkansans to create beautiful communities where people want to live, work and play. Great Arkansas Cleanup - Pick Up Litter!

Looking for ways to improve the environment in Arkansas through litter clean up? Find out how you can pick up litter with other environmentally aware Arkansans through the Keep Arkansas Beautiful Commission, the Adopt a Highway program and other litter clean up programs and events. Everyone deserves to live in a community that is healthy, safe, clean and beautiful, and we all have a role to play i

n achieving this goal. From litter clean up events to sharing good ideas with other communities around the state, to engaging schools and youth, involve yourself and others in community-improvement activities in your area! Each year, an estimated 10,000 Arkansans volunteer for the statewide Great Arkansas Cleanup litter-pickup event. Through their efforts, TONS of litter is picked up from THOUSANDS of miles of roadways and shorelines, HUNDREDS of parks and public spaces across TENS OF THOUSANDS of acres. This fall, join a Great Arkansas Cleanup event in your area! Great American Cleanup - Pick Up Litter! The Keep America Beautiful Great American Cleanup is the nation's largest community-improvement event. Arkansas has historically been a leader in volunteerism during this three-month springtime effort by organizing an average of 300 events that involved more than 17,000 volunteers and 45,000 hours of donated time. This spring, improve your community by participating in your local Great American Cleanup. Schools and Youth
No one is a natural-born litterer! Good environmental habits can and should be learned early, and involving young people in your community's improvement efforts is an important step toward keeping your community clean and beautiful. From recruiting young people as volunteers for your Great Arkansas Cleanup or Great American Cleanup event to engaging students in butterfly gardening and other environmental curricula, involve young people in your community's improvement efforts for a lasting impact into the future! Visit our For Teachers page on our website to see our free classroom enrichment and educational materials, including our new children's book, now an animated cartoon: Otto the Otter and the Great Arkansas Mystery! Wildflowers Forever
Our state is graced with more than 1,000 species of wildflowers. Wildflowers help reduce maintenance costs, enhance wildlife habitats and preserve native plant populations, and they can be a stunning addition to your community's beautification efforts. Adopt-A-Highway
This Arkansas Department of Transportation program allows groups and individuals to "adopt" a section of Arkansas roadway by pledging to pick up trash and keep it free of litter. Voluntarily maintaining the roadways into and out of your community is another way to be involved in improving your community. Additionally, many communities offer citizens the opportunity to Adopt-A-Street or Adopt-A-Spot. Your local street department or parks and recreation department will have more information. Adopt a highway or Arkansas roadway today! Volunteering
It takes each of us to educate and prevent litter, encourage recycling and promote scenic beautification. By volunteering your time, you can become involved in making your community a cleaner place to live, work and play! Looking for ways to reduce our waste and beautify the environment through community clean up efforts in Arkansas? You can participate in the Great American Cleanup in Arkansas each spring and the Great Arkansas Cleanup, the statewide community-improvement campaign, each fall.
