The allegations described in the probable cause affidavit involving Rep. Austin McCollum are horrifying and deeply disturbing. While the legal process must be allowed to proceed, the conduct alleged has no place in any home, community, or position of public trust.
Domestic violence is unacceptable—without exception. No public office, political affiliation, or personal relationship excuses abuse or violence against another person.
For the good of his family, his constituents, and the integrity of the Arkansas House, Rep. McCollum should immediately resign from the Arkansas House and end his campaign for Benton County Judge.
The Arkansas House Republican Caucus stands united in condemning domestic violence in all its forms. We support accountability, respect the judicial process, and stand with survivors of abuse.
