Founded in 1981, the Historic Preservation Alliance of Arkansas is the only statewide nonprofit organization focused on preserving Arkansas’s architectural and cultural resources. Preserve Arkansas’s mission is to build stronger communities by reconnecting Arkansans to our heritage and empowering people to save and rehabilitate historic places. Through educational programs centered on architectura

l heritage, advocating for preservation legislation in the halls of the State Capitol and at the local level, and assisting owners of historic properties with the means and expertise to preserve and restore historic structures, Preserve Arkansas has been a statewide voice for preservation in Arkansas for 40 years.

Last call for nominations to our 2026 Most Endangered Places list!

Built in 1881 by Jewish merchant Simon Adler, the Adler Building is one of the largest commercial structures on Main Street, and over the years has housed businesses, offices, an auditorium and dance floor. Arkansas Dry Goods moved into the space in 1931; after that wholesaler closed, the building passed through many hands with little maintenance. In 2018, two-thirds of the back wall collapsed, and the building was listed to Most Endangered Places in 2019. Thanks to intrepid and visionary developers, the building is now home to the Adler Lofts, a collection of well-appointed apartments that maintain many of the Adler’s original features.

Nomination to the Most Endangered Places is a strong recommendation for saving a piece of Arkansas’s history—and the publicity generated often leads to new interest and various avenues for public and private support!

Nominations close tomorrow, April 30. Visit our website for the simple nomination form: bit.ly/MostEndangered2026
