One Lane Closure CR 24 (Abbott Rd)
The Cattaraugus County Department of Public Works will be closing one lane of County Route 24, also known as Abbott Road in the towns of Ischua and Lyndon, between Snyder Road and Ingalls Road, from May 11th through May 29th, 2026. The closure is for road construction.

One Lane Closure CR 90 (Bixby Hill Rd)
The Cattaraugus County Department of Public Works will be closing one lane of County Route 90, also known as Bixby Hill Road in the town of Freedom, between County Route 32 (State Route 240) and the Wyoming County Line, from May 4th through May 29th, 2026. The closure is for road construction.

There will be a free rabies clinic on May 2, 2026 from 9:00 to 12:00 PM at the Cattaraugus County Dept. of Public Works Garage.

Rabies vaccinations are required for all dogs, cats and ferrets.

A one year certificate will be issued unless you provide proof of previous rabies vaccination.

There is no charge, but donations are accepted to help defray costs.
Please have animals on a leash or in a carrier.

A state program that provides employment opportunities during the summertime for youth. Eligibility is based on the household income for the youth’s family must be less than 200% of poverty. Usually, the duration of the program is 6-8 weeks. In addition to the youth being exposed to work, each youth receives an educational component which includes financial literacy. For employment opportunities, the youth may be placed with a not-for-profit organization, a governmental entity or in private business.

Outreach times and locations for the 2026 Summer Youth Employment Program are set and begin on May 4th. Youth that are interest should plan on attending one of the sessions.

This program is for income-eligible youth age 14 through 20. If interested in applying, please bring the necessary paperwork to the nearest or most convenient site in your area. If you are under 18, please have your parent or legal guardian accompany you, if possible. The following documentation will be needed:

Birth Certificate

WORK PERMIT (if under 18)

Social Security Card

Photo ID and/or report card

All sessions are from 2:30pm to 4:30pm
