๐บ๐ธ Happy Flag Day & Happy 251st Birthday to the United States Army! ๐บ๐ธ
From all of us at the Roanoke Valley Veterans Museum, we proudly celebrate two powerful symbols of American history and service โ our nationโs flag and the founding of the United States Army.
Today, we honor Flag Day, marking June 14, 1777, when the Continental Congress approved the first official design of the American flag. Since that day, the Stars and Stripes have flown over battlefields, humanitarian missions, and hometown celebrations โ a constant reminder of unity, sacrifice, and the enduring promise of freedom.
We also celebrate the 251st birthday of the United States Army, founded on June 14, 1775. The Army has stood at the forefront of every major chapter in our nationโs story, defending liberty and shaping the course of American history. Many of the heroes represented within our museum wore the Army uniform with honor and courage.
As we commemorate both milestones, we invite you to reflect on the generations of Soldiers and Veterans who carried our flag forward โ often into danger โ so it could continue to represent hope around the world.
๐ The museum is open today from 1 PM to 4 PM.
Stop by, explore our exhibits, and help us honor the legacy of service that continues to inspire our community.
๐บ๐ธ We honor the flag. We celebrate the Army. We remember the heroes.
