Could on-demand transit make it easier to get around your community?

Arapahoe County and its partners are considering three potential microtransit pilot areas for 2027. Microtransit works like a shared rideshare service: Riders request a trip by app or phone, and a smaller vehicle provides on-demand transportation within a defined service area and connections to existing transit.

Three areas are being considered:
• Littleton/Englewood, including portions of Sheridan and Centennial
• Southeast Centennial, including the Broncos Parkway area
• Southeast Aurora/Southlands, including portions of Centennial

Funding is available to launch one or two of these pilot programs, and we want to know which options would provide the greatest benefit.

Review the proposed service areas and share your feedback by Sept. 27: https://fp.mysocialpinpoint.com/index.php?cID=1322

Congratulations to Commissioner Jeff Baker, who was honored last week for his dedicated service on the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) Board of Directors and its executive committee! He received the “golden gavel,” an award presented to past board chairs, along with a presentation highlighting his many contributions and accomplishments.

Commissioner Baker’s recognition is especially meaningful as he served an extended 18‑month term as board chair from mid‑2024 through early 2026.

Current DRCOG Board Chair Mayor Colleen Whitlow shared these words during the recognition: “Jeff leads with just the right blend of subtle humor, fairness and consistency. He exemplifies principled leadership and humility. He listens intently to others’ perspectives, and he truly embodies the collaboration and innovation inherent to DRCOG’s reputation.”

Thank you, Commissioner Baker, for your leadership and service!

When a new residential subdivision is built in unincorporated Arapahoe County, developers may be required to dedicate, or set aside, a portion of the property for public uses such as parks or schools. When setting aside land isn't practical or appropriate, developers may instead pay the County the value of that land. This is known as a "cash-in-lieu" payment.

The County is proposing major revisions to how those land dedication and cash-in-lieu requirements are calculated.

As Arapahoe County continues to grow, the proposed changes are intended to better reflect the impact of new development and help ensure land and funding are available for parks and schools as communities grow. The updates would also establish clearer and more consistent standards for developers going through the planning process.

FIRE RESTRICTIONS LOWERED TO STAGE 1 — EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY

Recent monitoring of fire danger, fuel moisture, and weather conditions shows that conditions have moderated enough to safely ease fire restrictions.

Beginning August 28, 2026, fire restrictions in unincorporated Arapahoe County, Centennial, Foxfield, and Deer Trail have been lowered from Stage 2 to Stage 1 by Sheriff Tyler Brown.

🚫 What’s Still Prohibited:
-- Open burning without a permit from the appropriate fire district
-- Use of personal fireworks
