Officer highlights!! We truly have the best of the best here at Chatfield! 🌟

In the first photo is Park Officer Krier, who was awarded the Colorado Boating Officer of the Year Award! Officer Krier manages the boating program here at Chatfield, which is no small task as we are the second busiest state park in Colorado and boating is our biggest attraction. He has been key in implementing life jacket loaner stations throughout many of our day use areas to help promote water safety for all visitors. Officer Krier spends countless hours on the water conducting patrols, responding to emergencies, and ensuring everyone can safely enjoy Chatfield Reservoir. He is also a boating instructor who trains other rangers in safe boat operations for both daily patrols and emergency response situations. In addition, he teaches boating safety courses to the public and works hard to educate visitors on safe and responsible boating practices.

In the second photo is Park Officer Miller, who received the Mothers Against Drunk Driving MADD Colorado & CDOT Outstanding Individual Dedicated to Impaired Driving Enforcement Award for the Colorado Front Range area. Officer Miller has made a tremendous impact at Chatfield by helping keep impaired drivers off both our roadways and waterways. In just 2.5 years as a park officer, she has made more than 40 DUI/BUI arrests. Officer Miller is an SFST instructor, Seated SFST Instructor, ARIDE certified, and only the second Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) ever for Colorado Parks and Wildlife. She continually helps strengthen the skills of fellow officers both here at Chatfield and across the agency. Since January 2026, Chatfield has had more than 20 DUI arrests thanks to the expert training and detection skills of our officers.

Chatfield’s mission is to help make sure your time here is safe and enjoyable, and these two officers play a huge role in making that happen every single day. Please help us congratulate them on these incredible accomplishments and well-deserved awards!
