📬 NEW HOME, NEW ADDRESS — UPDATE IT!

Moving comes with a long list of things to update — but changing your address on your Texas driver's license or ID should be near the top of that list.

If your address isn't current, you could miss important or time-sensitive mail, including official notices. And if you don't update your address within the required 30 days, you could also face a citation.

🎒 SECOND WEEK OF SCHOOL — LET'S KEEP IT SAFE! 🚌

The second week of school is underway, and our officers are continuing to assist Judson ISD and Crestview Elementary with keeping students, staff, and families safe during arrival and dismissal.

As everyone settles back into the school-year routine, we want to remind drivers:
🚸 Slow down in school zones and follow posted speed limits.
🚌 Stop for school buses when their red lights are flashing and the stop arm is extended.
👀 Watch for students crossing streets and walking near schools.
👮 Follow officers' directions when they are assisting with school traffic. They're there to help keep everyone safe and traffic moving.
⏰ Give yourself extra time — school traffic can add a few minutes to your commute.

Our officers will continue to be out in the community and around our schools. Slow down, stay alert, and let's work together to keep our students safe. 💙

Three Years of Saving Lives: A Team Effort Worth Celebrating!!

For the third year in a row, our incredible staff have achieved No-Kill status recognized by Best Friends Animal Society—a remarkable accomplishment that reflects their unwavering dedication, compassion, and commitment to saving the lives of homeless pets.
This achievement is about so much more than a number. It represents countless hours of hard work, difficult decisions, long days, late nights, creative problem-solving, and an unrelenting belief that every healthy and treatable animal deserves a chance. From providing exceptional daily care and medical attention to connecting animals with loving families, expanding lifesaving opportunities, working with rescue partners, and going above and beyond for pets in need, our staff continue to make a profound difference every single day.
Reaching the no-kill benchmark once is an achievement. Sustaining it for three consecutive years is extraordinary. It demonstrates that lifesaving isn't simply a goal for our team, it is a deeply rooted commitment and a way of doing business.
We are incredibly proud of the dedication shown by every member of our staff. Their compassion, teamwork, resilience, and determination have helped give countless animals a second chance and a brighter future.

Yesterday, we celebrated the incredible career of K-9 Kane as he officially retires from the Live Oak Police Department. 💙🐾

Since joining the department in November 2017, Kane has faithfully served alongside his handler, Sgt. Sanders, helping keep our community safe. Throughout his service, the team earned and maintained national certifications in Patrol and Narcotics Detection through the National Narcotic Detector Dog Association (NNDDA) and Drug Law Enforcement (DLE), renewing those certifications annually.

Kane has been a loyal partner, a dedicated working dog, and an invaluable member of our department. We are grateful for his service and wish him a well-deserved retirement filled with plenty of naps, treats, and time with his family. Thank you, Kane, for everything you've done for Live Oak. Enjoy your retirement—you've earned it! 🦴

As one chapter closes, another begins.

Zeke is a Belgian Malinois who recently completed K-9 Handler School with Officer Trigg from June 22 through July 17, 2026. The team is excited to begin serving our community and continue the proud tradition of our K-9 Unit.

Thank you, Kane, for your service, and welcome to the team, Zeke! We look forward to seeing all that you and Officer Trigg accomplish together.

School supplies are being gathered, backpacks are being packed, and a new school year is right around the corner! 📚✏️

With Judson ISD starting August 12 and NEISD starting August 17, families are getting ready for another great year.

As everyone settles back into their routines, remember that safety starts before the first bell rings:

✅ Review drop-off and pick-up plans
✅ Talk with children about pedestrian and bus safety
✅ Be patient as traffic patterns change

Last Thursday, our officers had the privilege of serving our community in a different way during Tip-A-Cop at Texas Roadhouse! 💙🍴

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, shared a meal, and donated in support of Special Olympics Texas. Your generosity helps provide opportunities for athletes across Texas, and we're grateful to everyone who helped make the event a success.

The Live Oak Police Department was proud to stand alongside our law enforcement partners and connect with so many members of our community. Your support and encouragement mean more than you know.
