Florida RTAP Delivers Training and Assistance Across Florida in
February
Florida RTAP offered practical technical support to Suwannee Valley Transit Authority (SVTA) operators in Live Oak. The assistance focused on essential operational procedures, including pre-trip, post-trip, and in-route inspections, as well as accident scene management and precise accident reporting. This thorough training helped participants improve their ability to recognize and handle safety issues effectively, both on the road and off.
The technical assistance provided at SVTA included classroom teaching and hands-on demonstrations. Florida RTAP led participants through pre-trip inspection procedures and wheelchair securement techniques, using real-world examples to enhance learning. Fourteen attendees, including operators, management, administrative staff, and maintenance personnel, participated in the sessions. This cross-department group encouraged teamwork and a better understanding of each team’s responsibilities in maintaining safe transit operations.
With these two training sessions, Florida RTAP reiterated its dedication to assisting transit agencies throughout the state by providing customized training, technical support, and resources. RTAP aims to enhance Florida's rural transit services by equipping transit professionals with essential skills and knowledge to improve safety, efficiency, and reliability.
