🌈 Pride Month + Survivor Awareness Series | Part 2

LGBTQIA+ college students experience intimate partner violence at disproportionately high rates. Research has found that rates of intimate partner violence among le***an, gay, and bisexual college students can be as high as 50%, while transgender students may experience intimate partner violence at significantly higher rates than their cisgender peers. These disparities highlight the importance of ensuring that survivors have access to affirming, culturally responsive support.

At Tri-Valley Haven, we are committed to providing confidential, survivor-centered services, including crisis intervention, counseling, advocacy, and supportive resources that help individuals find safety, healing, and hope.

If you or someone you know needs support, help is available.

This June, we are sharing a special awareness series highlighting the realities of violence, safety, and resilience within LGBTQ+ communities.

Each post in this series focuses on data, lived experiences, and the importance of inclusive, survivor-centered support.

Did you know that LGBTQ+ individuals experience significantly higher rates of intimate partner violence and harassment across their lifetime? Black transgender individuals face epidemic levels of violence, and online harassment remains a persistent and growing threat. Research also shows that 45% of le***an, gay, and bisexual people have experienced intimate partner violence in their lifetime.

These disparities reflect broader patterns of inequality and highlight the urgent need for accessible, affirming support services for all survivors.

This information is supported by the Office on Violence Against Women, U.S. Department of Justice: https://www.justice.gov/archives/ovw/blog/ovw-commemorates-pride-month

At Tri-Valley Haven, we remain committed to supporting all survivors and ensuring every person is met with dignity, safety, and care.

Follow along throughout June as we continue this awareness series.

Backpack Drive starts today!

Tri-Valley Haven is now officially accepting pre-filled backpacks for students in our community from today Monday, June 8 through Friday, July 24. Each year, we help distribute over 600 backpacks to elementary, middle, and high school students, ensuring kids have the supplies they need to start the school year with confidence, stability, and excitement for learning.

🗓 June 8 – July 24
📍 Drop-off: 3663 Pacific Ave, Livermore
🕘 Monday–Friday, 9 AM – 5 PM

We welcome both fully packed backpacks and individual school supply donations. If possible, please label backpacks by grade level to help us with distribution. All donations go directly toward supporting local students as they prepare for the school year ahead.

Distribution is first come, first served, while supplies last. No registration is required for families to receive backpacks.

For questions or group donation coordination, please contact Carla at [email protected].

Thank you for showing up for local students and families through Tri-Valley Haven and helping make the start of the school year a little easier for so many children in our community.
