Nice work Manteca! Great things happen when the community teams up.
🛹 Exciting news for Manteca’s skate community! 🎉
After years of waiting, we’re moving forward with a major expansion and upgrade of our existing skate park along the Tidewater Bikeway. 🚧🛹
I especially want to thank the members of our public skate park committee including skateboarders, in-line skaters, roller bladder, BMX riders, parents, and community members who worked with our Parks, Recreation & Transit team to help determine what improvements would make the biggest difference.
This project is a great example of what happens when we listen to the people who actually use our facilities and bring community ideas to life.🏞️
The improvements will include several new skate elements, including a curb grind, up and down and side to side features, a volcano and incline ramp, along with an additional open skate area. 🛹
The project will also add more concrete, new fencing, seating plazas, shade canopies and picnic tables, a new drinking fountain, landscaping and trees, a new entrance and signage, security cameras, and a new turf area.
The existing bowl will also receive a colorful new look.
More than two years ago, then Councilmember Jose Nuno and I set aside $250,000 in remaining federal COVID relief funds to help move skate park improvements forward. I’m glad to see those dollars now turning into something our youth and families can actually appreciate and enjoy. 🛹
This is another investment in recreation, our youth, and creating more places for our community to come together. 👨👩👧👦❤️ And looking ahead, the City is still planning for a second skate park as part of a future community park.
