On March 23rd at 1856hrs the Androscoggin Country Communications Center alerted the Livermore Fire Department, Livermore Falls Fire Department, Turner Fire Department and Leeds Fire Department to the reported structure fire on Pike Road in Livermore. Additional resources we requested from Jay Fire as well as Wilton Fire as the RIT team. Upon the first arriving unit confirming a working fire Canton Fire Department was requested due to the size of the building.

The fire had an approximately 10 minute head start prior to fire department arrival, and crews for Livermore Engine 1 deployed attack lines to the second floor and achieved a quick knock of the fire. Extensive damage was reported to the second floor however most of the house was saved.

During overhaul fire was found on the first floor. This was due to the construction of the home. Ballon frame homes are typical in our town and across New England and often have atypical fire spread due to the openness of the framing.

We would like to thank all our mutual aid partners as well as Maine Health EMS, CMP, and the Sheriffs Department for their assistance on scene as well.

Approximately 40 firefighters responded. Engines 1 and 2 with Rescue 4 responded and Engine 1 was the primary attack and first due piece of apparatus.

Sometime is more than putting fires out, sometimes it’s about making a place in the community that’s available to all of our residents and visitors.

The Spruce Mountain Ski Area has been working hard to get the slope ready for winter, and their projected opening day on the 26th.

Their all volunteer crew has been making so much snow the retaining pond needed be be filled again.

Captain Scott Richmond was willing to help! He has been pumping water from around 9am! The pond will be refilled and snow making operations will start up again tomorrow night!

Thanks again to Captain Richmond for his help today in making a place for our kids to enjoy!

It has been a busy morning in Livermore with two building fires!

We would like to remind everyone, for your safety, please remember to properly heat your home and safely use all generators when the power is out.

Generators are best to be run outside. The first fire of the day was due to a generator in a garage that caught fire.

The second resulted from a propane fixture that malfunctioned. Anytime a flame is used in a home, It is best to be inspected or installed by a professional prior to use. These simple tasks can help prevent thousands of dollars damage later on.

Livermore crews responded to a detached garage fire today on Route 4. Unfortunately the building was a total loss. It was determined heating plates used for chickens caught the side of the building on fire and it quickly spread to the entire building.

It is a total loss, but fortunately the home was not affected. There was no injuries as well.

FYI!

We have received several calls today from citizens who report they received a call from someone claiming to be one of our deputies. The caller is saying the person has a warrant and needs to pay a fee. We do not call individuals in this manner.

Update: the caller is also spoofing our number and using names of actual deputies. Many of these calls are claiming the person did not show up to court and now needs to pay a substantial amount of money to avoid being arrested.
