Station 18 Heritage 🚨
Ever wonder how the Livingston Manor Fire Department evolved into the dedicated team keeping us safe today? This week, we are looking back at our roots, stretching all the way back to 1891!
1891 (The Beginning):
Long before our modern tax base existed, a dedicated group of local men realized our growing town needed more than just a bucket brigade. They hosted clambakes and community fundraisers to build our very first firehouse, eventually adding a hose cart and horse-drawn ladder wagon.
1916 (County Pioneers):
The department bought a 1916 Model T roadster and rebuilt it onto a chain-driven truck frame. This legendary machine became the very first motorized pumper in Sullivan County, guaranteed to launch 1,000 gallons of water over a 4-story building!
2017 (Stronger Together):
For nearly a century, Manor Hose Co. #1 and Hoos Truck Co. #2 operated as sister companies under one roof. On January 1, 2017, they officially united to form the single, unified Livingston Manor Fire Department we know today.
From horse-drawn wagons to the major restoration of our historic trucks, our mission has never changed.
