Can you set off fireworks any day of the year in Texas?

No, you cannot pop fireworks any day of the year in Texas; your ability to shoot them depends entirely on your specific location and the time of year. The legality of using fireworks breaks down as follows:Inside City Limits: Setting off consumer fireworks is illegal year-round within the city limits of most major Texas municipalities, including Houston, Dallas, and Austin. Fines can range anywhere from $500 to $2,000 per violation. In Unincorporated Areas: If you are outside city limits (in unincorporated county land), state law generally allows you to shoot fireworks year-round, provided you are at least 600 feet from churches, hospitals, or schools.Burn Bans: Local county commissioners can strictly ban the use of fireworks in unincorporated areas if the county is experiencing severe drought conditions.Sales Windows: State-approved consumer fireworks can only be legally purchased during specific retail periods. These primary times are the Fourth of July season (June 24 to July 4) and the December/New Year's season (Dec 20 to Jan 1). Some counties also allow sales for specific holidays like Texas Independence Day, Cinco de Mayo, and Juneteenth. For the most up-to-date regulations, you can check the Texas Association of Counties to see if your specific region is currently under a burn ban.If you tell me your specific city or county, I can verify whether fireworks are allowed where you are and check if there are any active burn bans in your area.
