Good Morning, and happy Sunday. Just a word on the cleanup efforts.
If you still do not have power please let us know by calling 931-403-4357 we will ensure UCEMC or Volunteer Electric are notified and we will confirm efforts are underway through our cooperative communications with them.
Crews are working daily, even though Mother Nature is doing her best to hamper the efforts. Sunshine is in the forecast in the very near future. Crews are working in the rain and will only stop in the event there is lightning or extremely high winds.
If you have already signed up for debris removal assistance please be patient as more and more crews arrive from Team Rubicon and Team Inspiritus into Overton County daily. Homes with trees on their roofs or holes in their roof and homes with interior damage from burst pipes are first on the list. We will get to your home, THERE IS NO COST, and teams are well trained, and vetted through Overton County. Currently, we stand at 420 requests for assistance. Each and every one of those requests will be completed.
If you have not signed up for assistance please do so at https://uc.readyop.com/fs/4csh/8dad
If you plan to remove debris from your yard please move the debris to the edge of the roadway and the Overton County Highway Department or its contracted agents will pick up the debris and haul them to the designated burn site. There is NO COST for this service.
Executive Danner has been working with the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conversation who has approved the first burn site for Overton County which is located at the Overton County Hwy Dept Rock Quarry.
Many thanks to the Methodist Church who has graciously allowed Team Rubicon to inhibit their gymnasium as a base for Team Rubicon workers removing debris from Overton County Residents' homes.
Many Thanks to Mayor Hayes, Cheif Etheridge, and Chief Dial for allowing Team Inspiritus to utilize the training complex/range as their base for workers removing debris from Overton County Residents' homes.
If you would like to sponsor or provide a meal for these workers they would be greatly appreciative. Both teams have members who are well vetted from across the United States coming into Overton County to assist our community. Over 100 volunteers locally and abroad are working daily in our city and county to assist our residents.
If you are NOT a resident of Overton County, we will take your request and pass those to the county in which you live in. Currently, no other county surrounding Overton is doing debris removal to our knowledge.
Lastly: When you see these volunteers working or in the community let them know they are appreciated. For without their support the road to recovery would be a very long one. Hug a responder, tell them thank you, or simply give them a Big Overton County Smile!
Thank you one and all,
Chris Masiongale
