Designed with a Purpose: Why won't the two pools at the Gateway Wellness Center be the same temperature?

Because they aren't designed for the same activities.

Our six-lane, 25-meter lap pool will be maintained at a cooler temperature that's more comfortable for active laps, training, or higher-intensity aquatic activities.

The recreation pool will be warmer, creating a more comfortable environment for families, young children, swim lessons, water exercise, and recreational use.

Having two separate pools allows us to better serve very different types of swimmers without asking one pool to do everything.

It's one of the many design decisions you may never think about when you walk through the doors—but one that can make a big difference in your experience once you're in the water.

Two pools. Two purposes. Two temperatures.

The fitness and wellness spaces at the Gateway Wellness Center are taking shape!

The Fitness Center is being planned to support a wide range of ages, abilities, interests, and fitness levels. Whether your goal is to build strength, improve cardiovascular fitness, train for your next adventure, maintain mobility, or simply move a little more each day, we want this to be a space where you feel comfortable getting started.

Plans include a variety of cardio equipment, strength equipment, free weights, functional training opportunities, and equipment designed with accessibility and different levels of mobility in mind.

Thank you to everyone who participated in our Fitness Equipment & Wellness Survey. Your feedback gave us valuable insight into the equipment and wellness opportunities our community would like to see in the new facility. We're excited to share more as those plans come together.

Why build two pools instead of one?

Because a family coming to play in the water and a swimmer coming in for a workout need very different things from their pool.

The Gateway Wellness Center was intentionally designed with two separate aquatic spaces: a recreation pool and a six-lane, 25-meter lap pool.

Having two pools gives us greater flexibility to offer lap swimming, swim lessons, water exercise, family recreation, and other aquatic programming, without asking every activity to share the same space.

It also allows each pool to be operated at a temperature better suited to the activities taking place there.

Different spaces for different needs, and more opportunities for our community to get in the water.

FEATURE SPOTLIGHT: Gymnasium

There will be plenty of room to play at the Gateway Wellness Center!

The new gymnasium will be a flexible, multi-use space designed for recreation throughout the year.

6 basketball hoops
Volleyball
Pickleball
Youth & adult recreation
Leagues, programs & open play

From shooting hoops and joining a league to trying pickleball or participating in a community program, the gymnasium will create more opportunities to play, move, and connect. All indoors and year-round.

𝗕𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗿𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝗲𝗲, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁.

The Gateway Wellness Center is being equipped with two Desert Aire HVAC systems, designed to create a comfortable indoor environment throughout the facility.

These systems will help maintain appropriate temperature, humidity, and air quality in spaces like the aquatics area and fitness center, supporting a comfortable experience for members and visitors year-round.

For Livingston, that means another indoor option to stay active when outdoor conditions aren't ideal, whether that's winter weather, summer heat, or wildfire smoke.

As construction continues, we're excited to see these important building systems being installed behind the scenes to support the health, comfort, and longevity of the facility.

One of the top three amenities identified during the City’s 2018 community feasibility study was a year-round, accessible walking track, and we’re excited to bring that vision to life.

The Gateway Wellness Center’s elevated walking track will provide a comfortable place to stay active in every season, whether it’s rain, snow, wind, or wildfire smoke outside.

Whether you’re beginning a new fitness journey, maintaining an active lifestyle, or simply looking for a safe place to walk, the track will offer a welcoming space for people of all ages and abilities.
