This text from a colleague I deeply respect absolutely made my day. ❤️ This is exactly why I fought for phone free schools. Not punishment. Presence. Kids talking, reading, playing cards, walking together and reconnecting.

And there is so much more ahead for New Jersey students:

I am proud to highlight Siri M. Patil, a brilliant student from Livingston High School, whom I had the pleasure of meeting last week to learn about her passion for the History of Science.

Ms.Patil is the founder of Scire, an online journal making science history accessible to high school students around the world. She co-founded Scire with Jane Nys, with Aarya Mulgund and Tanvi Telang serving as Social Media and Design Managers. Scire has published over 20 articles, interviewed scientists across various fields, and hosted workshops for teens at local libraries.The online journal has also partnered with the prestigious Science History Institute in Philadelphia.

I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Passaic County Commissioner Bruce James. For two decades, Commissioner James served the people of Passaic County with dedication, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to public service.

His legacy of service, particularly to the residents of Clifton and working families throughout the county, will not be forgotten. I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues on the Board of County Commissioners, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. May his memory be a blessing.

Proud to join Governor Mikie Sherrill, Senate Majority Leader Teresa Ruiz, Senator Raj Mukherji, and Assemblyman Michael Venezia for the signing of A4096, legislation requiring New Jersey data centers to report their energy and water usage.

As data centers continue to grow across our state, we need New Jersey-specific information to understand the demands they place on our energy grid and water resources. This new law is an important step toward greater transparency, accountability, and protecting affordability for New Jersey families.

The legislation was sponsored in the Senate by Majority Leader Ruiz and Senator Mukherji, and in the Assembly by Assemblyman Venezia, Assemblywoman Shama Haider, and me. With this law now on the books, New Jersey will have better information to protect our resources and plan for an affordable future.

I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Mr. Ed Gittens, Chief of Staff to Assemblywoman Verlina Reynolds-Jackson.

I first came to know Ed through his interest in our legislation to raise awareness about amyloidosis, an issue he cared deeply about, and had the opportunity to get to know him a little more through our Education Committee meetings. When the legislation passed the Assembly, it was my honor to move the bill and to have Ed standing beside me as we recognized the importance of establishing Amyloidosis Awareness Month in New Jersey. It is a moment I will always remember.

I will also remember his diligence, dedication, and commitment to working on behalf of the residents of New Jersey. His kindness and service left a lasting impression on me.

May his memory always be a blessing. I extend my heartfelt condolences to his entire family, to Assemblywoman Reynolds-Jackson, and to her entire team during this very difficult time.

When an emergency call comes in, first responders need equipment they can count on. Assemblywoman Rosy Bagolie secured funding in the FY2027 State Budget to help the Montclair Ambulance Unit upgrade the oldest ambulance in its fleet — a vehicle that has answered more than 12,700 emergency calls over 13 years of service.

With more than 5,500 calls answered last year alone, Montclair Ambulance Unit is there for residents day and night and lends its expertise during major emergencies across New Jersey.

The NJMVC Mobile Unit is coming to Livingston Town Hall on Tuesday, August 4, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Our office will be booking appointments for residents. To request an appointment, complete the form at

We have approximately 60 appointments available. Priority will be given to high school and college students preparing to return to school who need to obtain a REAL ID, renew or convert from provisional driver’s license, or complete another eligible MVC transaction.

If there is not enough student demand to fill all available appointments, we will open the remaining spots to all residents. Even if you are not a student, we encourage you to complete the form or call our office to be placed on the standby list.

We are proud to partner with the League of Women Voters, who will be available to help eligible voters register to vote and assist college students with vote-by-mail applications before they leave for school.
