Park County Rural Fire District #1 is excited to share an important step forward in the future of our wildland firefighting program.

In May, the District began a major project to replace our aging fleet of Type 6 wildland engines. These engines are an essential part of our ability to respond quickly and effectively to wildland fires throughout the district and to assist our neighboring agencies when requested. As part of this project, the District ordered three new cab and chassis units that will be built into Type 6 wildland engines. We are excited to announce that the first of the three new trucks was delivered this morning!

Over the next month, the new truck will be outfitted with the equipment and systems necessary for wildland firefighting. While the exact timeline can change as the build progresses, we are currently targeting the end of September for the new engine to be placed into service.

This project represents a significant investment in the future of Park County Rural Fire District #1 and, most importantly, in the safety of our firefighters and the communities we serve.

We are looking forward to seeing this new apparatus come together and getting it into service. We will continue to share updates as the build progresses.

Donation of LMNT

A HUGE thank you to a member of our community who recently nominated us to receive free LMNT! We were pretty shocked when this box arrived! 😳🔥

Thanks to their support and the amazing folks at DrinkLMNT, we now have enough electrolytes to stock ALL of our fire trucks! 🚒💦

These will be incredibly valuable for our crews during the summer heat, long incidents, and those tough days on the fireground. And we’ll likely have enough to share with our neighboring departments, too!

Thank you to our incredible community for supporting us on and off the fireground, and thank you LMNT for a supply that will definitely get put to work!

Community Update – East Baldy Fire & District Activity

We’ve received several questions regarding the East Baldy Fire, which is currently being extinguished by the U.S. Forest Service and is burning in the wilderness.
The best and most accurate source of information regarding the East Baldy Fire is the local Forest Service. Our district is actively monitoring the fire and remains in daily contact with Forest Service personnel. At this time, the fire does not pose a level of threat that requires us to provide a continuous stream of updates. If conditions change or the fire begins to significantly impact our district, we will provide additional information.
The crews working on the East Baldy Fire are doing a phenomenal job, and we appreciate the work they are putting in to extinguish the fire safely and effectively.

While the East Baldy Fire has received attention, our crews here at Park County Rural Fire District #1 have also been extremely busy.

Since Thursday, our district has responded to:

* 4 wildland fires, including one auto-aid response to the City of Livingston. On two of those incidents, the City of Livingston provided auto-aid to our district.
* 2 structure fires, including one with auto-aid from the City of Livingston and another with auto-aid from Livingston along with mutual aid from Clyde Park, Wilsall, and Paradise Valley Fire.

Our firefighters have been working hard, responding when called, supporting our neighboring agencies, and making sure our community continues to receive the highest level of service possible.
We are extremely proud of our crews and the work they continue to do. They have been on top of it, and they are doing a great job.

🚒 Structure Fire – 65 Billman Lane

At approximately 0300 this morning, Park County Rural Fire and Livingston Fire & Rescue were dispatched to a reported structure fire off 65 Billman Lane.

When crews arrived on scene, the structure was approximately 50% involved. The homeowners were able to safely exit the home and were not injured. Sadly, several furry members of the family were lost in the fire, along with the entire structure.

The fire also spread into the surrounding grass. Thanks to the quick response and coordinated efforts of our firefighters, crews were able to contain the fire and protect nearby structures from the flames.

Our deepest condolences go out to the family during this incredibly difficult time. While we are grateful that the occupants were able to escape safely, we know the loss of a home and beloved pets is devastating. ❤️‍🩹

🚨 I-90 MM330 GRASS FIRE UPDATE — FIRE HELPING FIRE 🚨

Shortly after 2:30pm today, Park County Rural Fire Department (PCRFD) and Livingston Fire & Rescue were paged for a report of a grass fire started by a blown tire at approximately the 330 mile marker off I-90.

At the time of the fire, a convoy of fire apparatus from departments and agencies across Montana was traveling toward the Dillon area to assist with two large fires burning in that area. Several of those resources were passing through our area when this fire started.

Red Lodge Tender 72, operated by Dan Johnson, stopped along the roadway to assist, followed shortly afterward by a BLM crew. We unfortunately did not catch the BLM truck number.

Thanks to the quick response and assistance from those passing resources, the fire is now out. Crews will remain on scene for a while to monitor the area and complete mop-up operations.

And the spirit of fire helping fire continues. Park County Rural Fire is sending a tender to assist crews battling the two large fires outside Dillon. When our neighbors need help, we answer the call — no matter where the fire is.

The Family Safety Event is happening now at Park County Rural Fire’s Pine Creek station!

Come say hello to local PCRFD and Paradise Valley firefighters and check out the car seat safety station, bear safety with Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks, Park Electric, wildfire prevention with the Forest Service, and information from Greater Yellowstone Fire Action Network.

BRUFFEY WILDFIRE ALERT

🚨 **Wildfire Update** 🚨

Park County Rural Fire is aware of a wildfire in the 63 Ranch area, near Bruffey Lane and Swingley, on U.S. Forest Service land.

Fire resources are currently on scene, with additional crews responding. The Montana DNRC is also sending a helicopter to assist with suppression efforts.

At this time, **there are NO evacuation orders in place**. We will provide updates if conditions change.

**Please do not call 911 unless you are reporting a different fire or have an emergency.** Keeping 911 lines open allows dispatchers to handle emergencies as quickly as possible.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation. Please avoid the area if possible and allow emergency personnel to work safely.

THANK YOU & Reminder for another event this Saturday!

Thank you to everyone who came out and joined us for National Night Out! It was a wonderful evening filled with community, conversation, and fun.

We loved having the opportunity to meet so many of you, answer questions, and connect with families from across our community. One of the highlights of the night was watching kids (and plenty of adults!) grab a fire hose and help "put out" the flames on our interactive prop. Seeing all those smiles reminds us why events like this are so special.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by to visit with our firefighters, law enforcement officers, dispatchers, EMS personnel, Bridge Team, SAR, City of Livingston, and all of the first responders who work together every day to keep our community safe. Your support means the world to us.
