Niji-Iro Elementary School PTA, Livonia Niji-Iro is a free, public, Japanese immersion school, educating kids of southeastern Michigan in Eng Collectively, we believe we create something special.

Niji-Iro is a free, public Japanese immersion school, educating children from Livonia and surrounding communities. We provide a a unique two-way bilingual immersion curriculum, teaching all subjects in both English and Japanese to all students.　にじいろ小学校はリボニアに在する無料の日米双方イマージョンプログラムです。リボニアを始め、周りコミュニティーの子供達に日本語と英語で教えています。

e, global curriculum. The dual immersion model means students enter the program as kindergartners, with little or no prior training in the language they will learn, whether it is Japanese or English. They learn from two classroom teachers -- in English for half of the school day and Japanese during the other half. There is additional support offered to students who may need it in their new language. Each classroom is balanced between Japanese and English speaking students, making collaboration a natural part of the learning process. Differentiated instruction is also key to the learning process at Niji-Iro, ensuring that each child is taught in a way that best suits their individual needs. Just like our name, Niji-Iro, which means “rainbow colors,” our school’s 130 students are from a variety of backgrounds and cultures. Our school year begins in mid-August and ends at the end of June. The longer school year allows more time for learning, and ensures the children retain what they learned from the prior year. The school is currently K-6 grade. Niji- Iro is a magnet program of the Livonia Public Schools, we are located near Seven Mile and Levan. Enrollment is open to children both in district and out of district.

Good afternoon LPS! We are putting the finishing touches on the August issue of the Dialog district newsletter as we speak, but we thought this quick summary of first day and first weeks would be handy.
