It will contain my bio, why I'm running, my views on events that are occurring within the city of Llano, TX.

I just returned from listening to the Declaration of Independence being read on Courthouse Square (with Connor....a good Civics lesson). Just when I thought this country was being torn apart I got to thinking; a quick way to bring us back together...

Run this on CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, and any other news outlet all day on Monday. The men who signed this would have been hung for treason if the war went the other way. Not that we don't have serious issues, but what they did 246 years ago seems to be on a slightly different plane.

I never saw anything like it. Around 7:00pm there was a post on First Baptist Church’s page that the Llano Middle School was being set up to as a distribution point for water, food, etc for the men and women fighting the fires on 71. After that, this community just responded.

People just showed up asking ‘What should I do’. Sometimes they were told what to do, other times they just saw something that needed to be done and did it. Cars, trucks, SUVs then starting showing up with cases of water, sports drinks, food, tables, and coolers. And then people just started ‘doing and giving’. Cases of water were stacked, supply lines were formed to unload the dozens and dozens of vehicles carrying supplies. Businesses and churches (I can’t even name them all) Coopers, Miilers, First Baptist Church, Lowes dropped off food and water.

Then around 10:00 the men and women fighting the fires started coming in for relief: water, food, rest, and even a bit of socializing. Valley Springs, Llano, Tow, Castell, and numerous more VFD’s. EMS was there to check on the health of the firefighters as they came in. And each time the firefighters came in then let, but not to go home but to go back to the fire. By midnight it was Kara Gilliland and her mom still waiting for their families to return from the fires. The last I heard, the estimate was that the fire had consumed about 1800 acres but was 95% contained. All this happened in about 5 hours.

And no one was in charge. This all just happened. There was no one individual that brought it all together, it just happened. Throughout the evening I saw people who worked for the city, business owners, and workers, church leaders and church members, middle school and high school kids worrying about classes today (well, they didn’t seem all that worried). Volunteers just showed up, workers just showed up, water just showed up, food just showed up, leaders just showed up, doers just showed up, firefighters just showed up, EMS just showed up. This community has a lot of assets, but this outpouring by far, has to be the greatest. I drove by the middle school this morning, and cases of water are there, but no trash, no empty bottles, it was organized chaos.

We're down to 12 hours starting Saturday May 7 from 7am to 7pm to elect 3 people to City Council. City Council is a 5 member board whose primary function is to guide the City Manager in using the city funds for the will of the citizens; The Budget Process. This election can change the dynamic of this board to increase our oversight and review.

I've met many wonderful people on this journey and I've had great discussions about what's on people's minds. I've also shared my top focus in these posts, and with the 100's of people I've spoken with knocking door to door. I have the experience for this role and I ask for your support in the final day of voting.

In the next 24 hours we'll know. My best to you all. Wayne D.

Keep your doors locked. My neighbor called to tell me a woman was assaulted on Sunset Drive this morning. I got home from golfing around 8:00am and the police were looking down by the river behind my house. They said they are looking for a short man, blonde wig, black hat, yellow jacket or shirt, camo pants. I told them my chocolate lab had been outside since 6:30 the morning, he'd be going crazy if anyone was in the area after 6:30.

Hi folks. The time is finally here for City Council & School Board elections. Early, in person voting starts tomorrow (4/25) at the library. Election Day is Saturday, May 7th.

If you still have questions, Tuesday April 26 starting at 5:30 PM is an "Open Chat with the Candidates" at Dabbs Hotel 112 E Burnet Street. I'll be there answering questions!

Thank you Llano Tea Party for sponsoring tonight's "Meet the Candidates' forum. Great turnout, and hopefully everyone got to hear about each candidate and what motivates us to run. We heard from 2 School Board candidates (Denise and Paul), 5 city council candidates(Laura, Lance, John, Eugene, and Wayne) and supporters for both of the JP4 candidates.

My 7 year old son came to the dinner (his first civics lesson). I asked him afterward if he listened to Daddy speak. He said 'Oh, I forgot'.

Hi folks. Just a reminder that Thursday April 7th is the Llano Tea Party's forum to 'meet the candidates for city council'. I will be there.

April 7 Inman's BBQ doors open at 6:00, meeting called to order at 6:30.

Each candidate has 5 minutes to introduce themselves, unfortunately no questions at that time. However, I will be around afterward to answer any questions you have for me. If you'd like dinner call 951.323.1690 for a reservation ($20). This is a great time to understand each candidate and how they may best serve the City and Citizens of Llano.

I'll also be outside afterward to answer any questions as well.

Election day is May 7 early voting starts April 25th.

The Llano Tea Party is planning a Forum at Inman's BBQ Thursday April 7 at 6:00pm. I sure hope to see you there and look forward to discussing the issues that are important to you.

Maybe we have gone back to the 1970's. Good old fashioned price war at the gas pumps on the north side of Llano today March 12. Credit Price for Regular: Valero: $3.88 Chevron: $3.98 VP Fuels: $3.98 Stripes: $4.09.
