Remembering the Brave Today 🇺🇸

We pause to honor and remember the courageous men and women who laid down their lives in service to our country.

Memorial Day is more than the unofficial start of summer-it is a sacred time to reflect on the immense cost of our freedom. We owe an endless debt of gratitude to the fallen heroes who never made it home, and our thoughts are with the families they left behind.

As we spend time with loved ones today, let us hold their sacrifice close to our hearts.

Llano County Sheriff’s Office arrest suspect for Improper Relationship between Educator and Student

On Tuesday, April 21, 2026, the Llano Independent School District notified the Llano County Sheriff’s Office of an alleged improper relationship between a substitute teacher and a student. Upon receiving the report, Llano ISD immediately removed the substitute teacher from its list of available substitutes.

On Wednesday, April 22, 2026, the Llano County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division (CID) initiated an investigation into the allegation. The substitute teacher was identified as Angela Palmares. Investigators conducted interviews and collected evidence, which led to the issuance of an arrest warrant for Palmares.

Palmares was located in Bell County and taken into custody without incident. Palmares has been charged with Improper Relationship between an Educator and a Student, a 2nd Degree Felony.

The Llano County Sheriff’s Office extends its appreciation to the Texas Department of Public Safety Fusion Center and the Bell County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Apprehension Unit for their assistance and coordination in locating and apprehending the suspect.

Llano County Sheriff’s Office disrupt Fraud Scheme

On April 8, 2026, the Llano County Sheriff’s Office, Criminal Investigations Division, in coordination with the Texas Attorney General’s Office, successfully disrupted an ongoing fraud scheme targeting a Llano County resident.

The investigation revealed that a Llano County resident was manipulated by individuals posing as federal agents, resulting in a loss of approximately $25,000 in cryptocurrency. The suspects then attempted to further defraud the victim by directing him to purchase approximately $335,000 in gold, intended for pickup by a courier at the victim’s residence.

Through coordinated surveillance and investigative efforts, law enforcement identified and intercepted the suspect prior to arrival of the victim’s residence in Llano County. The suspect was identified as Dhyey Rakeshkumar Patel, and was taken into custody without incident.

Evidence gathered during the investigation indicated that Patel may have been involved in similar transactions prior to this incident. Patel was transported to the Llano County Jail and booked on the following charges:

Money Laundering ≥ $300,000, a 2nd Degree Felony,
Money Laundering ≥ $2,500 < $30,000, a State Jail Felony

The Llano County Sheriff’s Office reminds the public that scammers often impersonate government officials and may request payment through cryptocurrency, gift cards, or high-value assets such as gold. Citizens are urged to verify any such requests and report suspicious activity to law enforcement.

All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
