The Loami Police Department has assigned 2 Officers and a Sergeant on duty for tonight in anticipation of the weather tonight. They will be patrolling, observing the weather, and watching for potential damage.

Weather spotters from the Loami Fire Department are also actively monitoring weather tonight.

On Sunday afternoon at approximately 4:00pm the Peacekeepers Ride will pass through Loami. The ride will consist of 200 motorcycles and 250 jeeps. They will enter town on Loami Bates from the north, pass through the square on Main St. , and continue south out of town on John’s Creek Rd. on their way to Pawnee. Our officers will be involved in traffic, but please be aware of this procession passing through at this time. The Peacekeepers Ride is a not for profit ride that raises money to support your Law Enforcement and Military and their families. Please feel free to come out and show your support for these guys and girls as they pass through our town. Let’s make them feel welcome and appreciated!

A lot of our neighboring communities have had car and garage burglaries over the last few nights. Please make sure your cars and garages are locked up overnight. Don’t leave any valuables in your car especially in plain sight. Please be vigilant for anything or anyone out of the ordinary. Contact us with anything suspicious. Please be safe and don’t approach anyone on your own. Remember our Officers are not typically sitting in the office by the phone, so please call Sangamon county dispatch to reach our Police Officers or the Sheriffs office the quickest way possible. The Loami Police Department needs your help. There are reports of two stolen vehicles and several vehicle break-ins last night. If you live in the area and have surveillance camera footage from last night, especially between the hours of 12-1 a.m., that shows any suspicious activity, please get in touch with the department.
