๐ FIRE HYDRANT FLUSHING ๐
Village of Loami
The Village of Loami will be flushing fire hydrants during the week of August 31st.
Residents may notice brief periods of discolored or cloudy water while hydrants are being flushed. This is a normal part of the process and does not mean there is a problem with the water system.
๐ง A Few FYIs
โข Discolored Water:
Flushing can temporarily stir up naturally occurring minerals and sediment in the water mains, which may cause water to appear yellow, brown, or rusty.
โข What Should I Do?
If your water is discolored, run your cold water tap for several minutes until the water runs clear.
โข Laundry:
If you notice discolored water, it is best to avoid doing laundry until the water runs clear, as the discoloration could temporarily stain clothing.
โข Water Pressure:
You may notice a temporary decrease in water pressure while hydrants are being flushed.
โข Is the Water Safe?
Temporary discoloration is generally caused by harmless sediment and minerals being stirred up in the water main.
โข When Will It Clear Up?
Water should return to normal shortly after flushing in your area. If discoloration continues after running your cold water for several minutes, please contact the Village Office.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we perform this important maintenance to help keep our water system and fire hydrants in good working condition.
