Village of Loami Office Closure Notice

The Village of Loami office will be closed Monday, June 15th through Friday, June 19th. Normal business hours will resume on Monday, June 22nd.

🚧 Exciting things are happening at Colburn Park!

The Village of Loami has officially broken ground on major park improvements made possible through an Illinois OSLAD Grant. Planned enhancements include a new walking path, lakeside pavilions, ADA-accessible improvements, a fishing pier, and more.

Construction is scheduled to begin the week of June 15.

🚧 Railroad Crossing Maintenance Update 🚧

We have been notified that beginning Monday, June 1st, the railroad crossings at Bates Rd and Loami/Bates Rd will be closed for maintenance work.

Please plan alternate routes and allow extra travel time during the closures.

The Village of Loami has issued a Solicitor Permit to a young gentleman offering miscellaneous outdoor services within the community.

If you are interested in his services or would like additional information, please text 217-415-1721.

He will be carrying his approved Village permit while conducting business around town. We appreciate our young entrepreneurs working hard in the community!

The Village of Loami is currently accepting applications for the position of Part-Time Police Officer.

We are seeking qualified, dedicated, and community-oriented individuals to join our team and help serve and protect our residents. Duties include enforcing laws and ordinances, protecting life and property, preventing crime, maintaining public order, and performing general law enforcement responsibilities within the Village.

Part-time officers work under the direct supervision of the Chief of Police or a designated supervisor.

🚧 Railroad Crossing Maintenance Update 🚧

Railroad maintenance work has officially entered Morgan County and began at the Orleans Rd crossing. We have received the following update from the Alexander Fire District:

⚠️ The Orleans Rd crossing has been completed.
⚠️ The crossing near the park on the Alexander/Franklin blacktop will be intermittent (“hit or miss”) today and is expected to be fully closed tomorrow for approximately 48 hours.

Residents traveling thru Alexander should be prepared to use alternate routes during the closure periods.

Suggested detours include:

➡️ East of town: Contrary Lane to Loami Road back to the blacktop
➡️ West of town: Orleans Road to Bergschneider Road back to the blacktop

Please allow extra travel time and use caution around construction areas. We appreciate everyone’s patience as these railroad improvements continue.

🚧 Railroad Crossing Maintenance Alert – Village of Loami Area 🚧

Residents are advised that we have been notified the railroad will be conducting maintenance work on multiple railroad crossings beginning May 18, 2026.

The work will progress from Farmingdale Rd in Sangamon County to Orleans Rd in Morgan County, and each crossing is expected to be closed for approximately 48 to 72 hours while maintenance is completed.

Affected crossings in and around the Loami area include:

• Farley Rd
• Loami Bates Rd
• Bates Rd
• Patton School Rd
• Olive St
• Locust St
• Waverly Rd
• Jimtown Rd
• Island Grove Rd
• County Line Rd
• Cockin Rd
• Contrary Ln
• Pearl St
• Orleans Rd

Please plan alternate routes, allow extra travel time, and use caution in construction areas. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding while these important railroad improvements are completed.
