Happy Independence Day!

Today is not the day to light that burn pile.

Fire danger is high across the entire state, so we ask that you hold off on burning leaves and debris until conditions improve.

During this time, burning restrictions are in place statewide. That means it is not safe to burn leaves and debris at this time, so we have temporarily paused issuing burn permits.

Our local teams across Tennessee assess fire danger on a daily basis, so we will be keeping tabs on the situation and updating restrictions as time goes on. We will resume issuing permits after conditions improve.

FYI for the locals in the crooked creek rd area. We had a large woods fire this evening on crooked creek rd. Forestry has fire breaks in place and a back burn is in progress. This fire is not small so you will definitely see smoke for days. The land owners will be keeping a close eye on this and letting us know if we are needed back out. I would like to thank all of our volunteers at Lobelville Fire, Linden Fire and Pineview Fire. Thank you to the Perry County Sheriff’s Office for keeping us safe on the road because visibility was horrible. Also thank you Perry County Dispatch you done an awesome job.

We had two fires today. One was a field fire and the other was a woods fire. We are very fortunate for our great team of volunteers that drop what they are doing no matter the time or event that is happening. Thank you to MLEC who was on scene with us restoring power and assisting. PC is very fortunate to have all the great people we have that serve on a daily basis whether it’s volunteer or not they are always ready to step up to the challenge.

Burn Permits are required starting the 15th.

NASHVILLE – Beginning October 15, a free burn permit from the Tennessee Department of Agriculture Division of Forestry (TDF) is required prior to burning leaves or natural vegetation, including debris generated by Hurricane Helene.

“Due to the vast amount of woody debris from Hurricane Helene and other recent storms across the state, we expect more outdoor burning than usual this year,” State Forester Heather Slayton said. “Since escaped debris burns are the leading cause of wildfires, it is important that Tennesseans take fire safety seriously. Burn permits are required by law and the tool by which we help citizens understand when and how to burn.”

We have added the option if you win the drawing you can choose between the deluxe pictured below or an open run with the tack room. The open run in would look like the deluxe minus the stall front.
