Bridge Preservation in Clinton County Starts Tuesday, June 16

Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced a bridge preservation project impacting six bridges along Route 220 in Castanea Township, Clinton County, starts Tuesday, June 16. This preservation work will improve the ride quality and extend the service life of the structures while also increasing skid resistance and enhancing safety for travelers.

Starting Tuesday, the contractor will implement long-term lane closures in the northbound and southbound lanes between the pair of bridges spanning the Nittany & Bald Eagle Railroad two miles east of Mill Hall and the pair of bridges spanning Route 120 (Paul Mack Boulevard) at the Lock Haven-Castanea exit. PennDOT anticipates the lane closures will remain in place until project completion in early October, but all construction schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

Work to be completed under this contract consists of milling the bridge decks to remove existing high-friction surface applications, minor deck repairs, new high-friction surface applications and miscellaneous construction. The Truesdell Corporation of Tempe, AZ is the contractor on this $1.2 million project.

Travelers can check conditions on major roads by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,200 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts.
