Clinton County is under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 10:00 PM (2200 hrs) tonight.

Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and evening, with the potential for damaging winds, hail, heavy rainfall, and an isolated tornado.

⛈️ Please remain weather aware throughout the evening.

🏠 Be prepared to move indoors and away from windows if warnings are issued.

CENTRAL CLINTON COUNTIES THROUGH 330 PM EDT...

At 246 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 18
miles northwest of Lock Haven, moving east at 20 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.

Locations impacted include...
Waterville, English Center, Hyner, Cammal, and Little Pine State
Park.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Very heavy rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail.

Today marks the first day of school for students across the Keystone Central School District! The Clinton County Department of Emergency Services wishes all students, teachers, staff, and families a safe and successful school year! 🍎✏️

As everyone gets back into the school-year routine, please keep these safety reminders in mind:

🚌 Watch for school buses and always stop when the red lights are flashing and the stop arm is extended.

🚸 Slow down in school zones and be alert for students walking or biking to school.

👀 Stay alert behind the wheel. Avoid distractions, especially during busy morning and afternoon hours.

🚗 Allow extra travel time. Expect increased traffic and bus stops throughout the county.

🎒 Parents, remind your children to use sidewalks and crosswalks when available and to look both ways before crossing the street.

Our 9-1-1 dispatchers and first responders are always here when you need us, but we can all do our part to make the first day—and every day—a safe one.

* Until 945 PM EDT.

* At 909 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from Milesburg to Spring Mills, moving northeast at 35
mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include...
Lock Haven, Bellefonte, Lamar, Zion, Mill Hall, Dunnstown,
Flemington, Castanea, Milesburg, Millheim, Blanchard, and
Aaronsburg.

For those driving on Interstate 80, this includes areas between the
Snow Shoe and Jersey Shore exits, specifically from mile markers 153
to 186.

A strong line of thunderstorms will be moving into Clinton County soon. These storms may bring damaging winds, frequent lightning, heavy rainfall, and localized flooding.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams
continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 313 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain has moved east
of the area. However, streams continue to rise and sporadic
flooding is ongoing across the warned area. Between 1 and 2.5
inches of rain have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts up to half an inch are possible in
the warned area.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Altoona, State College, Bellefonte, Hollidaysburg, Tyrone,
Ebensburg, Nanty-Glo, Portage, Park Forest Village, Boalsburg,

areas, Columbia, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Montour, Northern
Clinton, Northern Lycoming, Northumberland, Schuylkill, Snyder,
Southern Clinton, Southern Lycoming, Sullivan, Union and York.

* WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur
in poor drainage and urban areas.

I-80 Westbound will be SHUT DOWN around the 170.6 MM (Centre/Clinton County line) for an unknown amount of time due to a traffic incident. Traffic will be diverted off the 173 exit (Lamar). Please adjust your travels. There is currently a backlog.
