During its heyday, the historic town of Locke with its overhanging balconies was bustling with people and traffic down Main Street. Trains traveled down from Sacramento and steamboats passed by on the nearby Sacramento River. Things have changed some since the founding of Locke in 1915, a town built by and inhabited by a mostly exclusive Chinese community.

As celebrations of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month come to a close, the Locke Boarding House Museum continues its dedication to sharing the stories of Chinese immigration and what life in the Delta was like for this unique Chinese American community.

California State Parks wants to welcome you this summer to take a drive down the tree-lined levee roads passing the farms and orchards of the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta and find yourself in the historic town of Locke.

Visiting hours at the Locke Boarding House Museum are Friday through Sunday from 11:00 A.M - 4 P.M.
