These small gestures have a huge positive impact on our Officers. Thank you Walmart Lockhart

A small gesture of appreciation for those who make a big difference. Today, your local Lockhart Walmart had the opportunity of stopping by LPD to deliver a few treats and say thank you for all they do to keep our community safe.

We are grateful for the dedication, professionalism, and service of the men and women who protect and serve Lockhart every day. Thank you for your commitment to our community—we appreciate you today and every day!

FACT CHECK: We are aware of a social media post claiming a robbery occurred on the Downtown Square last night related to a social media transaction. That information is incorrect. The incident did not occur on the Downtown Square. The investigation remains active, and we encourage everyone to rely on official sources for accurate information.

As a reminder, when buying or selling items through Facebook Marketplace, OfferUp, or other online marketplaces, make your safety a priority. Always meet in a well-lit, public location, such as the Lockhart Police Department's designated Community MeetUp Spot and consider bringing a friend or family member with you.

📍 Location: 214 Bufkin Ln. (in front of the Lockhart Police Department)
✅ Well-lit location

These numbers and cost are not Lockhart Police. But the concept is the same. The citizens are the ones that lose in the constant cycle. The City needs to make a change. Stop looking at what other cities are doing and start being a leader by showing the Officers committed to Lockhart that you care and support us.

The Expensive Reality of Police Turnover

Here’s what the average police department spends to bring on one new officer:

Recruiting & background investigations

Academy training

Uniforms & equipment

Salary during training

Field Training Officer (FTO) program

Benefits & overhead

Total Cost: $100,000 – $200,000+ in the first 1–2 years.

Then what often happens?

The officer gets a few years of experience… and leaves for another department.

You just spent serious taxpayer money training an officer for someone else.

Maybe it’s time to invest some of that money in retention instead of constantly replacing people.

Financial wellness and officer support programs are one of the smartest investments a department can make.

Stronger Officers. Safer Communities.

🚔 Public Notice: Police Training Exercise
The Lockhart Police Department will be conducting active shooter training exercises at Lockhart Junior High School on Monday, June 29 and Tuesday, June 30 of next week.

Residents may notice an increased law enforcement presence at the campus during these training sessions. This is a planned training exercise only, and there is no emergency or public safety threat.

We appreciate the community’s understanding as our officers participate in this important training to enhance their skills and preparedness. Thank you for helping us share this information and avoid unnecessary concern.
