Officer Gutierrez was officially sworn in today and received his badge from Police Chief Gary Williamson as he officially joined the department. We are excited to have Officer Gutierrez on our team and look forward to the dedication, professionalism, and commitment he will bring in serving the Lockhart community.

🚗⛳ GOLF CART SAFETY: KNOW BEFORE YOU GO!
Planning to operate a golf cart on Lockhart streets? Before you hit the road, make sure your golf cart and its driver meet all City requirements.

Golf carts must be properly equipped with:
✅ Head lamps and tail lamps
✅ Turn signals
✅ Rearview mirrors
✅ Seat belts
✅ Amber and red reflectors
✅ Slow-moving vehicle emblem
✅ Annual permit from the Lockhart PD
✅ required to have insurance and the sticker displayed on the front (typically on the lower left side of the windshield)

Golf carts may only be operated on streets with a posted speed limit of 30 mph or less, and operators must have a valid driver’s license.

Mark your calendars for Tuesday, October 6, 2026 starting at 6 pm, and join the Lockhart Police Department, Lockhart Fire Department, and Lockhart EMS for National Night Out!

National Night Out is all about bringing our community together. This annual event strengthens relationships between neighbors and first responders while promoting safer, more connected neighborhoods throughout Lockhart.

🍦🚓 Thank You, Lockhart! 🚓🍦
What a sweet afternoon at City Park! Thank you to everyone who joined the Lockhart Police Department for Ice Cream with a Cop. It was wonderful spending time with so many families, meeting new friends, checking out police vehicles, and enjoying delicious ice cream together.

A special thank you to Holly Cow Ice Cream for generously providing free treats for our community and helping make the event a success. We also hope everyone enjoyed taking advantage of FREE swimming at the City Pool to cool off on a hot summer day!

Events like these help strengthen the relationships between our officers and the community they proudly serve. We appreciate everyone who came out and made the afternoon so memorable.

Bring the family out to City Park on Wednesday, August 5, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. (or until the ice cream runs out!) to meet your local officers, check out police vehicles, and enjoy a FREE ice cream treat for kids ages 0–17, courtesy of the Holly Cow Ice-cream.

📣REMINDER: OUTDOOR WARNING SIREN TEST TODAY AT 1 P.M.
The 5-siren outdoor warning system will be used to alert Lockhart residents of impending severe weather and/or chemical emergencies.

Activation criteria for the City of Lockhart includes;
• The U.S. National Weather Service (NWS) issues a Tornado Warning.
• The National Weather Service (NWS) issues a Severe
Thunderstorm Warning and indicates the potential for
destructive winds of 70 mph or greater.
• Observed hail of 1.5 inches in diameter (ping pong ball) or
greater.
• Any observed weather condition, which is judged to be
hazardous to people and early warning would potentially save
lives.

This notification system is developed for Central Texas and administered by the Capital Area Council of Governments (CAPCOG). The warning system will notify citizens of Lockhart by phone call, text or email for emergencies such as: tornados, severe weather, flooding, and local emergency information.

🚨 SCAM ALERT: Beware of Fake Spectrum Representatives 🚨
The City of Lockhart has received reports from residents about scammers posing as representatives from Spectrum via phone sales.

These scammers may call claiming there is an issue with your account or offering a special promotion. They may ask for personal information, payment by gift card, cryptocurrency, or other unusual payment methods, or request access to your devices.

Protect yourself by following these tips:
✅ Never provide personal or financial information to unsolicited callers or visitors.
✅ Don't make payments using gift cards, wire transfers, or cryptocurrency.
✅ Verify any account concerns by contacting Spectrum directly using the phone number on your bill or through their official website.
✅ If something doesn't feel right, hang up.

If you believe you've been targeted by a scam call, report it to your local law enforcement agency and notify Spectrum.

Please help protect our community by sharing this information with family, friends, and neighbors—especially those who may be more vulnerable to scams.
