This is a map of the 145th NYS Assembly District. The seat is currently held by Republican Angelo Morinello, who is retiring. Former Niagara County Legislature Chairwoman Becky Wydysh, a Republican, is seeking the seat. She is challenged by Grand Island resident, Democrat Nate McMurray. If you don't know McMurray, let us introduce you. In a Facebook post this week, McMurray wrote, in response to this page's criticism of Kathy Hochul, "Kathy Hochul is not some radical leftist....she is a moderate Democrat from Western New York".
Let's take a deeper dive into this "moderate Democrat".
Kathy Hochul signed sweeping gun control measures after the Supreme Court’s Bruen decision, creating expansive new “sensitive locations” where concealed carry is banned and imposing stricter licensing rules statewide.
Kathy Hochul's radical climate agenda and mandates, including the CLCPA, have drastically driven up energy and utility costs for families and businesses.
Kathy Hochul backed policies allowing non-citizens to obtain New York driver’s licenses while restricting DMV cooperation with federal immigration authorities under the Green Light Law.
Kathy Hochul supports allowing biological boys to compete against girls in youth sports, putting her own political ideology ahead of fairness for female athletes.
Kathy Hochul supported criminal justice reforms including changes to bail and discovery laws that have made it harder to detain repeat offenders and contributed to public safety concerns across the state.
The last person we need representing our Niagara County communities at the state level is Kathy Hochul apologist Nate McMurray, someone so far left he believes Hochul, standing side by side with her communist buddy Zohran Mamdani, is a "moderate Democrat".
