🌺South Park Flowerbed Near Completion💐

Today, the Park Board, Mayor Schilling, and another volunteer got together and put in some hard work in the brutal sun to make South Park more beautiful for you! Compost was spread around the tilled area, a w**d pre-treatment was spread too in order to keep the flowerbed w**d-free, the many drought-resistant flowers we had got planted, and a w**d barrier was put down to also keep out the w**ds. The last step is to have the mulch delivered and spread out to complete it all. A watering schedule will be done by the volunteers of the Park Board to make sure the flowers stay in tip top shape!

We always do the best we can for our community by making our parks as beautiful and welcoming as possible! Thank you to Pinewood Nursery for the help and support!

🌸Pardon Our Progress Flower Beds at South Park

Park Board Volunteers are making a flower bed around Lockwood’s Historic Bandstand in South Park. Volunteers recently pulled w**ds and cut out tree sapling that were festering around the bandstand. Volunteers also tilled the area today and have plans this Saturday to plant flowers, and cover the area with red mulch to beautify our parks and take pride in our community. A pile of mulch and compost will be at South Park this Wednesday to Saturday and we ask you please avoid the piles so we can use them to make our parks better for you! This flowerbeds will be maintained and watered by Park Board Volunteers so a huge thank to our community for coming together to make our Parks more beautiful!

🌳Smith Park Cleanup🌳

The Park Board alongside the Immanuel Lutheran School students and staff were able to clean up Smith Park today!

🌳Park Board President Tucker Berry pruned multiple trees and students picked up the limbs and hauled them for to the City Pasture to be burned. 🌳

🖌️Students also repainted two swing sets, the teeter totter, the jungle gym, and multiple boards on picnic tables and bleachers. 🖌️

🍂The Court had its fence row of leaves cleaned out and bagged by students. 🍂

🌸The Flower Bed had all of its w**ds pulled and flowers were planted. 🌸

🧹Lastly, the kiddos also helped clean out all the debris from the pool filtertation area. 🧹

A huge thank you to the Immanuel Lutheran Church & School for helping out the Park Board and our community by cleaning up our Park!!! We wouldn’t have been able to do it without the help!

🎨South Park Picnic Table Restoration🖌️

The Park Board along with the Lockwood HS Student Council all volunteered their time today to bring some life back to the old and worn picnic tables at South Park!!! We couldn’t have done it without them!

The boards not currently painted are set to be replaced this coming week as they are not fit for safe usage. The legs will also be finished painting once the table top dries.

We have future plans to purchase composite picnic tables that will never need painted, and have a much longer lifespan. With the funds available, we decided to make these picnic tables last as long as possible to be good stewards of taxpayers dollars!

This project was made entirely possible by our wonderful community’s support, hardworking volunteers, and our half cent parks and stormwater sales tax!

It was so much fun to see all the kids enjoy the Foosball Arena! Thank you Optimist Club of Lockwood for letting us help set it up the best we could and alwyas supporting our youth and parks!

🖌️ With the cooler weather sticking around your Park Board is in the process of repainting all of the wooden portions of the Concession Stand at Smith Park! 🖌️

All volunteers performed this project and it is expected to be completed by the end of September! Thank you everyone for all the support as we try our hardest to make our parks serve you!

❗️📣We want everyone’s, including your’s, input about South Park!!! Please take our survey and share this post with your friends, family, neighbors, or anyone you know who uses South Park! 📣❗️

So far, roughly 100 people online and in-person have taken our survey and given us their thoughts. We want as many people as possible to give us their thoughts so the Park Board can make South Park a true representation of what the community wants! The Park Board will be out and about around the city trying to get vote’s in-person so keep an eye out. Our survey collection will end August 31st so make sure you vote before then! If you already voted on either the poster board or online, don’t vote again.

🎉Thank you so much to the Park Board, the Acting Mayor, and all the others who showed up to help make your South Park clean and safe! 🎉

The Public Works Department will now dispose of the sticks like they have been doing for you. The City employees have already done so much and we can’t thank them enough for their hard work!

📢📢 We need you!!! 📢📢📢

The Park Board needs volunteers in South Park at 6:00 PM this Friday, the 4th of August, to help pickup after the storm!

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!!!Please leave a comment on this post or call or text Park Board President Tucker Berry at (417) 234-4243 so we can have a headcount. We will meet at 6:00 PM at the Bandstand in South Park and then begin picking up the sticks and piling them up for the Public Works Department to dispose of. Make sure to bring your work clothes and we’ll bring the cold water!
