The Lockwood Fire Protection District is proud to announce the addition of its newest apparatus to the fleet: an AC-130 Air Tanker.

This aircraft significantly enhances our firefighting capabilities, with the ability to deliver up to 19,000 gallons of water per drop, compared to our current ground tanker operations of approximately 3,000 gallons. This advancement will greatly improve our ability to protect life and property during large-scale fire events.

We are especially proud of our personnel who have undergone extensive training in preparation for operating this new apparatus. Their dedication and commitment ensure that we are ready to safely and effectively utilize this advanced resource for the benefit of our community.

Pending approval, the aircraft will have the capability to refill directly from Stockton Lake, allowing for rapid turnaround times and increased operational efficiency.

We are excited to continue investing in innovative solutions to better serve our community and strengthen our emergency response capabilities.

More details, including operational timelines and public demonstration opportunities, will be shared in the coming weeks.

We had a triple header this afternoon.

At 2:44 Lockwood Fire Protection District was dispatched to a grass and equipment fire. With assistance from Dade County R4 Fire the fires were extinguished. The equipment was a total loss.

At 3:49 while still on scene of the first fire, Lockwood Fire Protection District was dispatched to an electrical fire on an excavator. With assistance from Dade County R4 Fire the fire was quickly extinguished.

At 4:16 while clearing from the second fire Lockwood Fire Protection District was dispatched to an outside fire of approximately a couple acres that were quickly extinguished.

After restocking the trucks, units returned to cut down a few trees that were still smoking from the first fire.

A big thanks to Dade County R4 Fire Protection District for all the help and Dade County MO 911 for orchestrating the busy afternoon.
