Have you ever wanted to learn more about Blount County, connect with community leaders, and make a lasting difference where you live and work?

Applications are now open for the 2026-2027 Leadership Blount County Class!

Leadership Blount County is designed for individuals who are interested in learning about, improving, and serving the Blount County community. Whether you're an emerging leader, a business professional, nonprofit volunteer, educator, or simply someone who wants to become more involved, this program offers a unique opportunity to experience our community firsthand.

Throughout the program, participants visit organizations and communities across the county, hear from local leaders, and gain a better understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing Blount County. Along the way, you'll build valuable relationships with fellow participants who share a passion for making our community even stronger.

Our mission is to foster leadership skills, encourage community involvement, and inspire positive change throughout Blount County.

Program Details
β€’ Nine monthly sessions
β€’ Second Wednesday of each month, September through May
β€’ Meet at the Blount-Oneonta Chamber of Commerce office at 8:00 a.m.
β€’ Most sessions conclude by 2:30 p.m.
β€’ State Government Session & Montgomery Field Trip (Date TBA) – This session may be scheduled on a different day and will return later than 2:30 p.m.

The program fee is $400, which includes lunches and transportation for scheduled field trips.

Employer sponsorship is encouraged, and many participants have their registration fee paid by their employer. If your organization would like to sponsor your participation, we're happy to provide an invoice upon request.

The National Weather Service has moved up the timeline this afternoon for strong storms to develop as early as 3:00–4:00 p.m. in Blount County. These storms could produce large hail, damaging winds, and possible isolated tornadoes. All schools will dismiss at 1:30 p.m. today. All practices and after-school activities are canceled.
