🚨 Community Alert – Fraudulent Checks Being Passed 🚨
The Locust Grove Police Department would like to remind residents and local businesses to stay vigilant after reports of fraudulent checks being passed in our area.
Please take extra precautions when accepting checks:
✔️ Verify identification when possible
✔️ Inspect checks for altered information, missing security features, or unusual formatting
✔️ Be cautious of checks written for more than the purchase amount
✔️ Confirm funds when appropriate before releasing merchandise or providing cash back
✔️ Train employees to recognize common fraud indicators
If something doesn’t feel right, trust your instincts and take time to verify before completing the transaction. Reporting suspicious activity quickly helps protect our community and local businesses.
