On Saturday, June 20, at approximately 1327, Firecom alerted the Locust Valley Fire Dept. to a house fire at 25 Old Tappen Rd. All three chiefs were on the road within 2 minutes. Chief Bonislawski arrived on scene 1 minute later and advised that he had smoke showing. He was quickly joined on scene by chiefs Sandstrom and Rohrberg. Chief Valeo of Glen Cove, who had been alerted for dual engine arrived on scene at the same time. 1 minute later after rapidly assessing the scene, a “Signal 10” working fire was transmitted. Engine 545 was first due and arrived approximately 3 minutes later and was ordered to drop there hand lines at the front door and proceed to the hydrant, placing the first attack line into operation. They were rapidly joined on scene by ladder 546 who began searches and ventilation and Glen Cove engine 525 who placed a second line into operation. The fire was placed under control after 39 minutes. The Locust Valley Fire Dept. also recieved assistance from Sea Cliff Fire Dept, Oyster Bay Atlantic Steamers Fire Co, Bayville Fire Co, Glenwood Fire Co, East Norwich Fire Co, and Roslyn Rescue, all while Jericho Fire Dept. and Syosset Fire Dept, were standing by to respond to any other alarms that should arise. 1 Firefighter was injured during the alarm and transported to an area hospital. We would like to thank all the departments that responded and assisted. The scene was turned over to the Nassau County Fire Marshall’s office and is not considered suspicious.

Please be advised, Skunks Misery Rd is currently blocked between Lattingtown Ridge Ct and 10th Street. We responded and checked the situation but are unable to do anything until PSE&G responds and confirms it is safe to do so. Nassau County Police are remaining on scene to monitor the situation.
