WHAT IS THEME?

7th Grade Reading students put their thinking skills to work today with Theme Task Cards! Students read each scenario, searched for clues, and worked to decipher the message or life lesson the author wanted readers to understand.

This activity incorporated WICOR strategies as students used READING to analyze each card, WRITING to record and support their thinking, INQUIRY to dig deeper into the text, and COLLABORATION to discuss, defend, and sometimes revise their answers with classmates.

The best part? Theme isn’t always stated. You have to prove it with text evidence!

We are incredibly proud to share that West Stanly Middle School earned a B School Performance Grade AND Exceeded Expected Growth based on the 2025–2026 accountability data! 📈⭐

This accomplishment reflects the hard work of our students and staff and the continued support of our families and community. We are proud of what we accomplished—but we’re not stopping here! 💪

As we begin this school year, our focus is clear: EXCELLENCE. We have high expectations for every student, and we believe that with hard work, strong instruction, meaningful relationships, and a commitment to success, there is no limit to what our C**ts can achieve. 📈⭐

💚🖤 WOW, 6th Grade C**t Families! 🖤💚

What an AMAZING turnout for our 6th Grade Student Success Night last night! 🎉 We loved seeing so many of our students and families filling the halls of WSMS!

Thank you to everyone who took the time to come, learn, ask questions, and support your student. Your involvement makes such a difference, and we are so thankful to have you as part of our C**t Family! 🐴💚

Some moments at school are bigger than they look. ❤️

Yesterday morning, this sweet boy got off the bus and made a beeline for his favorite SRO, ready for their walk into school together. 🚌💚

It’s a simple routine, but it means so much. It’s about friendship, trust, safety, and knowing that someone is waiting for you and excited to see you.

This is what belonging looks like. This is what a school family looks like. And honestly… these are the moments that make our jobs so special. 💚🐎💚

We’re so thankful for the adults who go the extra mile, and for the students who remind us every day that sometimes the best part of school is simply knowing you belong. 🥰
