Lodi Rotary Club president, Karen Chandler, kicked off the new year with a full house! Lots of big plans this year so we can better serve our community. Let’s go!

Don Moyer of the Ripon Rotary Club regaled us with tales of rattlesnake hunts. It’s true! Baby rattlers are more dangerous than their grown counterparts, excreting all of their venom in a bite! Rotarian-in-training, Mikey, was brave enough to test out the venom extractor without the bite.

Past President Nicole is out and President Karen is in! A mock county supervisor’s meeting ushered in our new Lodi Rotary Club leadership.

Karen and Nicole are off to the international convention, gearing up for another year of service. Best of luck, ladies!

Today’s young speaker, Vance Gross of Tokay Colony 4-H is raising 5 pigs this year and studying to be an auctioneer. Through his 4-H projects Vance has learned a lot about responsibility, commitment, and the value of hard work.

Today we held a virtual meeting with Club Rotario Irapuato Internacional in Mexico to hear about all their wonderful accomplishments. This Rotary Club made up of 12 women accomplishes so much in their community. Wheelchair and mattress donations to the elderly, major kitchen appliances for local nursing homes, cataract surgery funding, vaccination drives, school supply donations... the list goes on. The club also holds 100% Paul Harris fellowship!

Tonight we awarded two outstanding Lodi High School students with $1,250 scholarships. Both of these scholars embody our motto, “Service above Self.”
