Huge THANK YOU to all who showed up to the City of Lodi-Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services’ and Friends of Lodi Lake Coastal Cleanup!

My daughter and I had some quality father-daughter bonding time out in nature, and we even saw a family of deer!

My team of Lodi High students and adults picked up 29 lbs of trash and recyclables along Lodi Lake’s Nature Trail.

(Ps… anyone missing a broken fishing pole?)

22-12 victory, and the Tigers move to 3-1 on the season!

So let me get this straight….
- The city is spending nearly $50,000 per month to pay two city managers (the former City Manager and the “Acting City Manager”).

- The City now approved an additional $340,000 in taxpayer funds for legal fees related to the former city manager’s comments. (From $260,000 to $600,000 in a matter of a few months)

And the investigation STILL isn’t complete?

My opinion: This is a complete waste of our City taxpayer’s money. Probably WAY more than if the City just would have let the City Manager speak on the whole city credit card debacle.

The Lodi City Council appears to have reached its financial limits in funding an investigation into allegations of widespread misuse of public funds made by City Manager Scott Carney, who

The Lodi City Council must be responsible stewards of public tax dollars.

In less than 4 months, the City Council has considered DOUBLING the contract amount (from 210K to 580K) with an outside law firm for legal services. All because our city is exposed to legal liability related to the City Manager debacle.

I’m tired of seeing Lodi in the headlines for all of the wrong reasons… This City Manager investigation “Circus” needs to end. Let’s get back to common sense governance, and working for THE PEOPLE.

Much like their constituents, Lodi City Council members would like to see the investigation into a former city manager’s behavior come to an end.

It’s a little over one year since I came back to work for the Legislature, there’s an overwhelming sense of fulfillment as I’m tackling challenging issues to help our K-12 students.

For almost 8 years, I worked exclusively on Public Safety, Technology, and Local Government issues and LOVED it.

This year, I’m working to help improve STEM pathways for student and access to college, reduce administrative burdens for small school districts, and remove sexually explicit material from our PK-8 school libraries.

Such an important year, and I’m LOVING the challenge.
