One of our recent releases. Thanks to all who make it happen from willing live-trappers, housing, transport, and determining the right location for release. We appreciate you all! https://www.facebook.com/reel/1985876615366629

On this week of introducing BERC staff we have Liz Zamora! Liz is our summer technician who does a little bit of everything. She works a lot taking care of the beavers on a day to day basis, drives around to pick up beavers, works on outreach, helps to lead volunteer shifts, enters data on beavers we receive, helps check in the beavers and other tasks as needed! She is at USU pursuing her B.S. in Conservation and Restoration Ecology, a GIS Certificate and a Watershed Science Minor. She just completed her first semester at USU after transferring from a school in Chicago! She loves music and going to concerts. Her favorite band is The Front Bottoms!

Fun facts about our resident yearlings Hades, Percy and Gaia!
They are in the stage of life between being a kit and being an adult. Beavers typically stay with their families until they are around two. The best way to classify what stage of life they’re in is their weight! Their weight class tells us more than guessing how old they are. Their parents slowly teach them the skills they need to thrive such as dam and lodge building/maintenance along with foraging skills. One important role they have in their families is babysitting kits! Multiple generations are able to live together at the same time. Their presence helps strengthen the colony- beavers work as a cooperative team, not just parent-offspring units! 🦫❤️
