A pretty incredible way to close out our final book club of the year.
We were honored to host Douglas Foxley, influential lobbyist and Leader of the Commission to Celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Driving of the Golden Spike, as our featured speaker, joined by his longtime friend Tom Welch, Former CEO and President of Maverik.
Doug selected Nothing Like It in the World for this month’s discussion, a perfect lens for a conversation on history, passion, and legacy.
One of the most powerful takeaways from the night: the story of the railroad still matters today because it represents diverse, often ostracized, people coming together to build something extraordinary. That idea felt just as relevant now as it did then.
A huge thank you to the College of Arts & Sciences, Damon Cann, our very own Dr. Seelig, and the Political Science Department for making this series possible.
Grateful for a year of thoughtful conversations, and already looking forward to what’s next.
