Fires and injuries caused by fireworks are preventable. Keep yourself and your communities safe this 4th of July by attending a fireworks show hosted by professionals or by taking proper safety precautions:
- Keep a safe distance from buildings, vegetation, and people.
- Check for and follow local restrictions.

On Thursday afternoon, the 'Line Fire' burned 23,000 acres, starting southwest of Nara Visa NM, and spread rapidly, covering most of the area in a short time. Limited resources were available initially because of several other significant fires in the area.

Logan Fire Dept had a busy past week beginning Monday afternoon with mutual-aid for a large wildfire that started off of i-40 between San Jon and Tucumcari.

Thursday we responded to a 2 vehicle collision with Logan EMS, in which one patient was air lifted from near the scene and another patient was later flown from the hospital.

Thursday night Logan Fire and Logan EMS responded to a residential structure fire, the occupants were able to escape without injury and the fire was quickly controlled. Crews were able to locate a K-9 that was not able to escape, and transported to Tucumcari Animal Hospital which at last word was recovering from effects of the heat and smoke inhalation.

Please be very careful with any type of open flame or sparks as conditions are prime for wildfires right now, even after last night's rain.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer firefighter please contact your local department. If you live in the Logan area you can call 575-403-9801 or 575-487-2666 and leave a message if no one is available to answer your call. Volunteer fire and EMS organizations all over America are constantly in need of volunteers, some desperately in need of help from YOU!!

Last but not least THANK YOU to our great team of volunteer fire and EMS providers we are fortunate to have in our small community. You truly make a difference.
