Hoarding has become an increased risk in communities across the United States, so much so they have made TV shows about it. It is not about having a collection of something, it is about the safety around the house when the collection becomes a hazard. When a person cannot easily get out of the home in an emergency because of what has been collected and stored in it, we have entered into the realm of hoarding. This becomes a danger to both the people living there and to those that respond there in an emergency. Please see the attached Safety Tip Sheet for more information and feel free to save and share it.

Be safe, Loganville

Rechargeable batteries….without them we wouldn’t have many of the conveniences we have today. Lithium batteries have changed our world because they are smaller and more powerful than the old Ni-Cad batteries. But let’s be safe when using them. We can do things like: buying only properly listed batteries and chargers from reputable sources, ensuring those smaller devices are charged on a hard surface, charging larger devices like e-bikes outside, only using chargers specifically made for that device. Check out this Safety Tip Sheet for ways to prevent lithium-ion battery fires.

Hope the summer has recharged your batteries, Loganville!

Being electrically safe around the pool or hot tub is both easy and important to do. Did you know that many companies that manufacture “fuel gels” used in fire pots and patio torches have voluntarily recalled those gels? Devices that use these types of fuels are decorative and light up your night, but due to the hazards with these types of fuels, special precautions should be taken if you do choose to use them. Please check out this Fire Safety Tip Sheet to learn more about Gel Fuels and the precautions you want to take when using them.

As you go out into the public to attend events or go shopping, it makes us happy when you are “safety aware”. Knowing what to do and how to get out of a building is important for you and your loved ones should something occur. Take mental notes of where the exits are, where the closest fire extinguisher is, and if needed…..where the closest fire alarm pull station is.

Please copy this Safety Tip Sheet to review ways to help keep you safe when you are out and about.

Hope your weekend is both safe and fun, Loganville!
