The Outreach House

The Outreach House The Outreach House’s reason for being is simple.

We’re here to provide compassionate and effective assistance to those who need it most through our four programs - Food Pantry, Clothes Closet, First Things First and Walk In Assistance. Starting in 2003, The Outreach House was focused primarily on helping low-income families during the first three years of their children's lives through our First Things First program. The Outreach House also star

ted and grew a Walk-In Assistance program to support individuals and families with emergency needs. In August 2021, these two programs merged with the Lombard/Villa Park Food Pantry and the Clothes Closet, both services of First United Methodist Church of Lombard, operating for 40 and 14 years, respectively. The goal of this collaboration is to create a central location where York Township residents can access a broader range of services, expanding from infant needs and emergency assistance to include food and clothing for all ages. Now that we have merged all of our programs under one name - The Outreach House - our goal is to provide access to all these services from one location, under one roof. Currently, The Outreach House’s four programs - The Food Pantry, First Things First, Emergency Walk-in Assistance and Clothes Closet - serve all residents of York Township, including the communities of Lombard, Villa Park, Elmhurst, Oak Brook and parts of Oakbrook Terrace, Westmont, Downers Grove, Glen Ellyn and Hinsdale as well as the towns of Glendale Heights and Addison. If anyone who visits us is not a resident of York Township, Addison or Glendale Heights we will also do our best to direct them to other organizations providing services in their community.

*Please note*
Our hours are listed above, however we are also open the 3rd Saturday of each month from 9-11.45 am.

A busy pantry takes a lot of hands to keep everything stocked, organized, and ready to serve our neighbors.

A huge THANK YOU to the team from JMG Financial Group for spending time volunteering at The Outreach House! Their willingness to jump in and help made a real difference in keeping things running smoothly for the families who count on our programs.

When local businesses give their time, the impact goes far beyond a single volunteer shift. Together, we’re building a stronger community where neighbors show up for neighbors.

Interested in bringing your company or organization to volunteer at The Outreach House? We’d love to have you! Reach out to learn more about group volunteer opportunities.

Diapers are an everyday essential, but for many families, keeping enough on hand can be a real challenge.

A huge thank you to the Overture Yorktown Community for stepping up and hosting a diaper drive for The Outreach House! Their generous donations will help local families access the diapers they need while easing some of the pressure on their household budgets.

Want to help our neighbors, too? Consider hosting a donation drive with your neighborhood, workplace, school, church, or community group. Every drive—big or small—makes a difference!

We are grateful for a seat at the table.

Grocery prices continue to rise while federal assistance programs face cuts. Our Executive Director, Catherine Lynott, joined Congressman Sean Casten and other organizations from the area to discuss what this means to our families. These conversations are important because oftentimes it's frontline organizations like ours that see the immediate effects of federal policy changes.

If rising food costs are affecting your family, please visit us for assistance.

Or if you're in a position to donate, consider becoming a monthly donor to show your neighbors you are here for them.
