Thank you to our friends at Lin-Mar Towing & Recovery for stopping by yesterday to educate our crews on the capabilities of and the equipment carried on their heavy rotator wrecker. These powerful machines and their highly-trained operators can be an important resource during a challenging technical rescue or accident.

Our companies trained today with hand cutting tools. Members got hands-on training with our new Milwaukee Fuels 18 Battery Band Saw and then put the saw through its paces in a simulated scenario. Members compared the band saw in a rescue scenario to the saws-all and the angle grinder. Band saw was found to be quicker, less vibration to the patient, and cause less stress on the potential victim from noise, vibration, and sparks from cutting. Other cutting options that were discussed included the rotary saws, our selection of cutting torches, and finally stabilization of the victim. York Center Fire Protection District is fortunate to have many options for potential rescues not only in our district but our surrounding communities when the opportunity occurs.
