We’re looking for 6–7 students ages 15–22 to represent Lomita as Student Ambassadors on an unforgettable cultural exchange to our sister city, Takaishi, Japan! 🇺🇸🤝🇯🇵

This is an incredible opportunity to experience Japanese culture, build lifelong friendships, represent our community, and be part of the 45+ year friendship between Lomita and Takaishi!

Last night, we had the honor of celebrating National Night Out City of Lomita, California with our friends from Takaishi! 🇺🇸🇯🇵

Our delegate from Takaishi, Hitomi Kameoka, was presented with proclamations recognizing the enduring friendship between our two cities. The Lomita Sister City Association and the City of Lomita commemorated 45 years of partnership between Lomita and Takaishi, while also celebrating Takaishi City's 60th anniversary of incorporation.

We were also incredibly honored to receive a proclamation from Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn, recognizing both this remarkable 45-year partnership and Takaishi's 60th anniversary.

In return, our friends from Takaishi presented heartfelt tokens of appreciation to the City of Lomita and the County of Los Angeles, a meaningful reminder that cultural exchange is built on mutual respect, gratitude, and lasting friendship.

Here's to 45 years of memories, and many more to come! 💙❤️

Rolling out the welcome carpet here in the City of Lomita, ! 🇺🇸🇯🇵

Our student ambassadors and chaperone from Takaishi had the opportunity to tour City Hall, where they explored our display case celebrating 45 years of friendship and cultural exchange, visited the beautiful Japanese garden dedicated to our sister city partnership, and even got to spend time in the City Council Chamber.

Every visit is a reminder of the lasting friendships and connections that have grown between our two communities over the past four and a half decades. Here's to another unforgettable exchange! ❤️

Celebrating 45 years of global connection with Takaishi, Japan!🌟🇯🇵

The City of Lomita and our Sister City, Takaishi, are proud to commemorate 45 years of partnership, cultural exchange and enduring friendship.🤝

Since 1981, our communities have come together to foster mutual understanding and lifelong bonds. Through our signature exchange program, participants enjoy the unique opportunity to grow culturally, socially and academically through home-stays and daily interactions with their host community.

Every other year, the Lomita Sister City Association selects eight Lomita students to travel to Takaishi for an immersive two- to three-week experience. On alternating years, we have the honor of hosting students from Takaishi. This year, we are proud to welcome our visiting student delegation from July 25 to Aug. 6.

In tandem with this 45-year milestone, Lomita proudly joins Takaishi in celebrating its 60th anniversary. These landmark events offer a meaningful opportunity to reflect on our shared history, recognize our collective achievements and explore new opportunities for future connection.👏

The Lomita Sister City Association was honored to welcome our Student Ambassadors and chaperone from Takaishi, Japan at a special celebration at the Lomita Railroad Museum , with the support of the City of Lomita,.

This year marks 45 years of friendship, cultural exchange, and partnership between our two sister cities. Over the next two weeks, our ambassadors will be living with local host families and exploring Lomita and the greater Los Angeles area while building lifelong friendships and sharing cultures.
