We are ready for your support with our Thanksgiving Food Drive.

Every year, we are blessed by the generosity of our community, and we are asking for your help once again.

Our goal is to collect 300 of EACH of the following items:

- Boxed stuffing
- Instant boxed mashed potatoes
- Canned or packet gravy
- Canned cranberry sauce
- Canned corn
- Canned green beans
- Canned yams
- Cornbread mix (such as Jiffy)

Here's how you can help!

We are asking individuals, families, businesses, churches, and community groups to choose just 1 or 2 items from our list and help us reach our goal of 300 of each!

Whether you donate a few items or organize a collection with your friends, coworkers, or church, every contribution makes a difference.

Donation Deadline: Monday, November 9, 2026

Donation Drop-Off Hours:
Monday, Tuesday, and Friday
10:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Please contact Jemima at 310-538-6831 to let us know which items you plan to donate and approximately how many we can expect from you. This will help us keep track of our progress and make sure we have enough of everything!

We are so grateful for the incredible community that continues to show up for the families we serve.

Can we count on you again? Thanksgiving is just around the corner!

We are preparing for our annual Thanksgiving Food Drive.

Looking back at these photos from last year reminds us just how blessed we are to have so many generous individuals, families, businesses, and community partners who open their hearts to help others.

As we prepare for this year's Thanksgiving Food Drive, we invite our wonderful community to come together once again.

21 Years of Making a Difference!

After a wonderful cocktail hour, our guests gathered in the dining hall for an evening filled with gratitude, generosity, recognition, and celebration!

There were so many special moments throughout the evening!

• Dinner & Prayer – Pastor Marcos of Calvary Assembly of God opened our time together in prayer.

• Sponsor & Guest Appreciation – Board President Mark Waronek thanked our incredible sponsors, fundraising committee, and guests. We may have had our biggest year of sponsorships yet!

• City of Torrance Recognition – Mark Waronek and Vice President Dr. Kayvon were presented with a Certificate of Appreciation on behalf of the City of Torrance.

• Making a Difference Award – We honored Rene Mizuguchi of VISTAS for Children for nearly 20 years of making a difference in the lives of the families we serve.

• Our First-Ever Making a Difference Scholarships! – We celebrated Emily and Sara, who shared their journeys through a special video presentation. Thank you to Sherri Ashman and Terry Turner for making these scholarships possible!

• Our Mission & Impact – Executive Director Tara shared Community's Child's accomplishments, the families we're reaching, and what's ahead.

• A Beautiful Display of Generosity – During our special giving opportunity, guests gave at various levels, including an incredible anonymous donation of $15,000!

• Live Auction – Comedian Gary Cannon led our live auction. Thank you to everyone who participated and supported our mission!

As we celebrated 21 years of Community's Child, one thing was especially clear: It's the people who make the difference!

To every sponsor, donor, volunteer, board member, committee member, community partner, and guest who joined us, THANK YOU!

Because of you, we can continue serving infants, children, families, and seniors throughout our community.

Wednesday we had the pleasure of welcoming representatives from Torrance Unified School District to Community’s Child to pick up laptops generously donated by our friends, David and Sherri Lombard!

David, affectionately known as the “The Laptop Elf,” has been blessing our community with laptops for students in need for years. And he just keeps giving and giving!

For students who may not have access to a computer at home, these laptops can make a tremendous difference in their education.

We are incredibly grateful for this gift!

We are also thankful for our partnership with Torrance Unified School District, helping us get these laptops into the hands of students who need them most.

This is what community is all about. People coming together, sharing what they have, and making a difference in the lives of others.

Some people just have a heart for giving, and David Lombard is one of those people!

Known to many as the “ The Laptop Elf,” David Lombard, along with his wonderful wife, Sherri, has once again blessed our community with an incredible donation!

David and Sherri generously donated 9 laptops to Community’s Child to be given to students in need in the Torrance Unified School District 💻.

And this isn't the first time David has stepped up to help. He gives over and over again, quietly making a difference in the lives of others.

We are so grateful for friends like you who continue to show up for our community, time and time again.
