🚧 Mill Street Bridge Update 🚧

I’m pleased to share that the Mill Street Bridge is expected to reopen by mid-morning tomorrow.

Please note that there will be a slight grade difference at each end of the bridge until the final asphalt surface is installed. During this temporary condition, motorists will need to slow down and use caution when crossing.

We appreciate everyone’s patience throughout this project. Once the bridge is fully completed and officially open, I’ll share another update with the public.

I have always believed that public service is about showing up, doing the work, and putting the people of London first. While I respectfully disagree with today's decision, I accept it and remain grateful to Judge Caperton for his careful consideration of this matter.

Most importantly, I want to thank the people of London for the trust you have placed in me. Serving as your mayor has been one of the greatest honors of my life.

My focus now is exactly where it has always been: serving this city. I intend to finish my term strong, continue working every day on behalf of our community, and keep doing the job the people elected me to do.

Today, we celebrate the fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, and father figures who lead their families with love, strength, sacrifice, and quiet devotion. The role of a father is one of the greatest callings in life to guide, protect, teach, and love through every season.

To the dads working long hours, showing up every day, setting the example, and giving their families your very best thank you. Your presence matters more than you know, and the impact you make reaches far beyond your own home.

We also take a moment to honor the memory of the fathers who are no longer with us, but whose love, wisdom, and example continue to live on in the lives they helped shape.

From our family to yours, we wish you a blessed and meaningful Father’s Day.

I had the chance to see one of our London Police officers take a break from the excitement, sit down, and spend a quiet moment talking with a young boy they had just been running through the water with earlier in the day. It may seem small to some, but those are the moments that matter. That’s what community is about.

I want to sincerely thank the London Police Department and London Fire Department for showing up today, not just to attend the event, but to truly engage with the families and children who were there. Whether it was laughing with kids in the water, answering questions, or simply taking time to connect one-on-one, you helped make today meaningful.

These moments remind us that building trust and building community often happens in the simplest ways through kindness, presence, and genuine human connection.

Thank you to everyone who helped make today’s Juneteenth celebration special.

Today at our Juneteenth celebration, one simple moment captured exactly what community is all about. Watching members of the London Fire Department and London Police Department join in with a young child running through the water, laughing, and simply being present was a reminder that public service is about more than responding to emergencies. It’s about building trust, making memories, and showing our children that those who serve them also stand beside them.

I want to sincerely thank both the London Fire Department and London Police Department for being part of today’s celebration at Town Center Park. Your willingness to engage with families, connect with our community, and create moments like this does not go unnoticed. We are blessed to have first responders who not only protect this city, but who also take the time to invest in the people who call it home.

That is what Team London is all about.

Today, we recognize Juneteenth, a day of historical significance in our nation.

On June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued, Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, and informed the last enslaved African Americans that they were free. This day became known as Juneteenth and is now observed across our country as a celebration of freedom and a reminder of our nation’s continuing pursuit of liberty and opportunity for all.

As we reflect on this chapter of American history, we honor the strength, perseverance, and contributions of those who endured hardship and helped shape the nation we know today.

Here in London, we are reminded that our community is strongest when we treat one another with dignity, respect, and kindness. May we continue to learn from our history, appreciate the freedoms we enjoy, and work together to build a brighter future for generations to come.

🚧 NORTH MILL STREET BRIDGE PROJECT UPDATE 🚧

Great progress is being made on the North Mill Street Bridge Replacement Project!

Today, crews successfully set the new bridge structure in place, marking a major milestone in this important infrastructure improvement. Our Public Works team and contractors continue to make steady progress and are working diligently to keep the project moving forward.

We appreciate everyone’s patience during this temporary road closure and encourage motorists to continue using alternate routes while construction is underway.

This project remains on schedule and is expected to be completed within approximately one week weather permitting.

Thank you to our Public Works Department and all those involved for their hard work and dedication to improving our city’s infrastructure.

🚧 North Mill Street Bridge Replacement Update 🚧

We’re excited to share that the old North Mill Street Bridge has now been completely removed, marking a major milestone in this important infrastructure project.

Before construction could begin, a significant amount of utility work
had to be completed behind the scenes. We want to extend a special thank you to Delta Natural Gas for their hard work and cooperation in relocating the gas line serving this area. Their efforts were a critical step in allowing this project to move forward safely and efficiently.

With the old bridge now removed, work can continue on the next phases of construction as we move toward a safer, modern bridge that will serve our community for years to come.

Projects of this magnitude require coordination between utilities, contractors, engineers, and city departments. We appreciate everyone involved for their commitment to keeping this project moving forward.

Most importantly, thank you to our residents, businesses, and visitors for your patience during construction. We know detours and delays can be frustrating, but these improvements are investments in the future of our city.

Every day brings us one step closer to a new bridge and a stronger transportation network for London.

🚧 ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE – NORTH MILL STREET BRIDGE REPLACEMENT 🚧

I would like to notify residents and motorists that North Mill Street will be closed at the bridge just past W 17th Street as our Public Works Department begins work to replace the bridge.

This important infrastructure project is expected to take approximately three weeks to complete, weather permitting. During this time, we ask for your patience and understanding as crews work to improve the safety and reliability of this roadway for years to come.

Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes and allow additional travel time while the closure is in place. Please use caution around the work zone and follow all posted signs and traffic control measures.

We appreciate the hard work of our Public Works team and thank our residents, businesses, and visitors for their cooperation as we complete this much needed project.

Thank you for your patience as we continue moving London forward.
