London Fire & EMS would like to recognize The London Cobra Show and Plain City Ace Hardware for their support in helping us place new equipment into service.

Through a generous monetary donation from The London Cobra Show, our department was able to purchase new Milwaukee equipment for our fire apparatus. Plain City Ace Hardware, General Manager Tom Worth, and owners Rich & Kathy Chene worked closely with our personnel to help us select equipment that meets our operational needs while making the most effective use of the donated funds.

The new equipment includes:

(1) Milwaukee M18 Chainsaw
(4) Milwaukee M18 Tower Lights
(2) M18 Six-Port Sequential Chargers
(1) Milwaukee M18 9” Cut-Off Saw
(2) Milwaukee M18 FUEL Reciprocating Saws
(6) Milwaukee M18 XC 6.0Ah Batteries

This equipment will soon be placed on our fire apparatus and provide our firefighters with additional tools to safely and effectively serve our community.

We sincerely thank The London Cobra Show for their generous donation and Tom, Rich, Kathy, and the entire Plain City Ace Hardware team for working with us to make the most of that donation.

Community partnerships like these directly support our mission and help us continue providing the level of service our residents expect and deserve.

Yesterday’s severe weather kept London Fire crews extremely busy. During a single 24-hour shift, London Fire units responded to 46 calls for service throughout the community.

Calls ranged from:

* Downed power lines and wires
* EMS emergencies
* Residential structure fires
* Building collapse
* Other storm-related incidents

Our crews worked throughout the day and night responding to emergencies as the storms moved through the area. We are proud of the dedication and teamwork shown by our personnel during an exceptionally busy shift.

We would also like to thank our fellow public safety agencies, utility crews, public works personnel, and mutual aid partners who worked alongside us to keep the community safe and begin clearing the damage.

As cleanup continues, please remain cautious around downed trees, damaged structures, and especially downed or low-hanging power lines. Always assume a downed wire is energized and stay well away.

Thank you to our community for your patience and cooperation during yesterday’s severe weather.

SEVERE WEATHER – PLEASE USE CAUTION

Severe weather has moved through the City of London, resulting in several trees and power lines down throughout the city.

London Fire and London Police crews are currently out responding to multiple calls for service.

We ask everyone to please use caution while traveling and, if possible, avoid unnecessary travel while crews work to address hazards throughout the city.

Please remember:
• NEVER approach or touch a downed power line. Always assume it is energized.
• Stay away from trees, limbs, fences, vehicles, or other objects that may be in contact with power lines.
• Do not drive around barricades or emergency vehicles.
• Give emergency crews plenty of room to safely operate.
• Report emergencies and immediate hazards by calling 911.

Please remain weather aware and use caution as conditions may continue to change.

It’s been a busy summer for London Fire & EMS! During June and July, our crews responded to a combined 509 calls for service while also staying active throughout our community.

June 2026
Fire: 54
EMS: 197
Total: 251 calls
Hospital Transports: 128

July 2026
Fire: 67
EMS: 191
Total: 258 calls
Hospital Transports: 148

Through the end of July, London Fire & EMS has responded to 1,659 calls for service in 2026.

In addition to answering emergency calls, our crews have had the opportunity to attend several community events throughout the summer, including Touch-A-Truck at the London Public Library and National Night Out. Events like these give us a chance to step outside of our emergency response role, interact with the families we serve, and build positive relationships throughout our community.

Whether responding to an emergency or spending time with our community, we are proud to serve the City of London 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

London Fire was proud to take part in this year’s National Night Out!

We had a great evening spending time with our community and enjoyed seeing everyone who stopped by to talk with our crews, or grab a picture! Events like National Night Out give us a great opportunity to connect with the people we’re proud to serve every day.

Last night, London Fire units were dispatched at 9:59 PM to a report of a residential structure fire. Crews arrived on scene at 10:03 PM to find smoke and flames showing from the structure.

Due to the conditions on arrival, a Working Fire Assignment was requested, bringing additional mutual aid companies to the scene to assist with fire suppression and overhaul operations. Thanks to the coordinated efforts of all responding agencies, the fire was declared contained at 10:40 PM.

One occupant was transported for treatment of injuries sustained in the fire. We are thankful to report that no firefighters were injured while operating on scene.

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to all of our mutual aid partners and public safety agencies for their assistance and teamwork throughout the incident.

This morning at 7:31 a.m., London Fire & EMS units, as well as mutual aid companies, were dispatched on a report of a residential structure fire. Engine 361 & Ladder 360 arrived on scene at 7:35 a.m. to find smoke coming from the residence. Based on conditions, the incident was immediately upgraded to a working fire, and additional mutual aid resources were requested.

Firefighters quickly forced entry and deployed handlines, initiating an aggressive interior fire attack that successfully contained the fire. Thanks to the coordinated efforts of all responding personnel, the incident was brought under control with no injuries reported to civilians or firefighters.

Incidents like today’s serve as a reminder of the importance of strong mutual aid partnerships. We sincerely appreciate the assistance from our neighboring departments and the teamwork displayed on the fireground.

Today we celebrate the freedoms we enjoy and honor the men and women who have served and sacrificed to protect them. As you gather with family and friends, we encourage everyone to celebrate safely and responsibly.

Please remember to keep a safe distance from fireworks, supervise children closely, and ensure smoke alarms are working in your home.

Fireworks Safety Reminder!

With London’s fireworks display taking place tonight and Independence Day celebrations continuing tomorrow, the City of London Division of Fire & EMS would like to remind everyone to celebrate safely.

• Attend public fireworks displays whenever possible.
• Keep children and pets a safe distance away from fireworks.
• Never allow young children to handle or ignite fireworks.
• Keep a bucket of water or a garden hose nearby.
• Never relight fireworks that fail to ignite.
• Soak used fireworks in water before disposing of them.
• Remember that sparklers burn at temperatures exceeding 1,000 degrees and can cause serious injuries.

We want everyone to enjoy a safe and memorable holiday weekend with family and friends. If you choose to use consumer fireworks, please do so responsibly and be considerate of your neighbors, veterans, and pets.
