Mesa Police Issue Silver Alert for Missing 94-Year-Old Resident Elton Duane Knowles

Elton Duane Knowles, a 94-year-old Mesa resident, was reported missing yesterday. Knowles, afflicted by a medical condition causing confusion and ease in getting lost, was last seen driving away from his home near S. Sossaman Road and E Broadway Road, according to the Mesa Police Department. The police issued a Silver Alert, seeking assistance from the public to help safely locate the missing senior citizen.

The Silver Alert, a notification system to quickly disseminate information about missing persons—especially seniors with Alzheimer's, dementia, or other mental disabilities—went out after Knowles failed to return. He was last seen driving his black 2006 Chevrolet Avalanche, with Arizona Veteran License Plate 8714S. His last known location was in Mesa, Arizona, ZIP code 85208. Efforts to urgently track him down were complicated by his vulnerability to easily become disoriented.

There was no description available of what he was last seen wearing or further identifying features. The public is urged to keep an eye out for Knowles, who also goes by the first name Duane, and his unique license plate.

Residents and anyone with knowledge of Knowles' whereabouts have been asked to immediately contact the Mesa Police Department at 480-644-2211. The plea for public help is to hopefully bring Mr. Knowles back safely to his home and family. In such instances, time can be a critical factor, and the community's vigilance can make a significant difference.

‘I just want to find him’: Daughter pleads for answers one month after father’s disappearance

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The search for an elderly man who’s been missing for more than a month now continues Monday night.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has issued a Silver Alert for missing 73-year-old man, Samuel Finnie.

“To know my dad is missing is just a lot,” his daughter Carla Jackson said.

Finnie has been described as a 5’10”, 170 lbs man with gray hair and brown eyes.

He was last seen on August 2 in the area of Westmore Cove.

Finnie has a medical condition that may impair his ability to return safely without assistance.

Kia Shine looks to change Memphis’ ‘negative narrative’

It’s been a month of worry, anxiety and hope for Carla Jackson as she hopes her father is found safely.

“Okay, a week I hadn’t spoken with my dad, I’m okay,” Jackson said. “But for my cousin to say I haven’t seen your dad? I’m like, ‘Well, what’s going on?’ But he didn’t explain any of that to me.”

Jackson told WREG that Finnie had just moved back to South Memphis after living in Atlanta for several years so he could live in the house her mother left to him.

Finnie was living with his adult nephew in the home on Westmore Cove and according to a Memphis City Watch, the two had an argument before Finnie disappeared.

One neighbor told WREG that Finnie came to her door late one night two weeks before he went missing.

“I walked outside into my carport and Mr. Finnie was sitting in the chair and he started to tell me that he needed to use the phone to call 911,” the neighbor said.

Dredging underway at the Mississippi River

She said Finnie told her about alleged violence in the home and called the police.

WREG is not naming the nephew at this point because he has not been charged with anything in relation to Finnie’s disappearance.

“They did not lock up the nephew that night,” the neighbor said. “Mr. Finnie ended up back at the house that night, but he also told me while he was sitting here waiting for police that the night before the nephew had put him out and he slept on the porch.”

While WREG was in the neighborhood, Finnie’s nephew came home. He briefly spoke with a reporter but did not provide any information about his uncle.

So, hours after neighbors say police showed up to the home with K-9 units, Jackson is still no closer to answers.

“I just want to find him or know the truth,” Jackson said. “One of the two.”

Finnie has prostate cancer, is pre-diabetic, and is in need of medication.

If you have seen him or have any information about his whereabouts, you are asked to call the Memphis Police Department at 901-636-4479 or call the TBI at 1-800-TBI-Find.
