CANCELLED SILVER ALERT FOR VEHICLE REGISTERED TO MISSING 93-YR OLD MALE, FREDERICK MUMFORD

While actively searching for missing 93-year old Cumberland resident, Frederick Mumford, late last night members of the Cumberland Police Department were able to triangulate a possible location for Mr. Mumford and his vehicle in Hopkinton, Rhode Island. Local responding units were able to locate Mr. Mumford’s vehicle, the same truck referenced in the Silver Alert; however, it was discovered actively engulfed in flames. Additionally, a deceased subject was also located outside of the vehicle as well. The positive identification of that individual is currently underway, yet undetermined at this time.

The Rhode Island State Police responded to the scene and is now handling the investigation of the burned vehicle and adjacent victim. Cumberland Police Detectives are assisting and have been actively following up other components of the investigation and search.

At this time, we have requested the Silver Alert for Mr. Mumford’s vehicle be cancelled and have briefed Mr. Mumford’s family on the situation. More information to follow.

Circumstance: Wojtek was last seen, according to friends, running naked on Gallilee Escape Road adjacent to the Gallilee Bird Sanctuary. He left his phone, keys, money, and clothes at the home where he was staying. The temperature outside that day was around 30 degrees. His family has desperately been seeking help to find their son.

MISSING: CHARLOTTE LESTER

Today, May 16, 2023, marks one year since Charlotte Lester, 45, disappeared from the Apponaug section of the city.

Charlotte was last seen on the evening of Monday, May 16, 2022, in the area of Staples Avenue. On Wednesday, May 18, 2022, Charlotte’s beloved dog, Chloe, was found abandoned in the area of Elmwood Avenue. Days later, Charlotte’s 2006 Toyota Tacoma was discovered in the parking lot of Kent Hospital, 455 Toll Gate Road, Warwick. Family and friends have not seen or heard from her since.

At this time, Charlotte’s disappearance is an active and on-going investigation. While the Detective Division remains confident in their investigative efforts to this point, they are still asking for the community’s assistance in sharing Charlotte’s photo and encouraging anyone with credible information to come forward.
